About us

Inspiring environments nurture creativity. We provide creative office, studio and co-working space for over 1,000 creative practitioners and businesses. Our sites are thriving independent hubs for the creative industries, evolving to reflect our residents work and lifestyles. Flexible workspace for creative use is complemented by on-site offerings from wellness to curated stores, markets, galleries, rooftop bars, florists and cafes. Eat Work Art was established in 2009 with the aim of transforming buildings into workspaces for independent creative communities to grow. Launching with the iconic Netil House in London Fields, an unloved 60’s building transformed into a power house of creativity, crowned with a sprawling rooftop, we have expanded into nine sites across London and Plymouth. Sustainability is inherent in our regeneration work and we strive to enrich the communities we work in. Inspired by the passions and interests of our residents and the wider community, we evolve to engage with our surrounding communities in creative projects. Aiming to bring likeminded individuals together who champion innovation and collaboration, everyone is welcome, from individual start-up artisan traders to more established companies. Everything we do is centred around bringing people together to foster a community of great minds.

We were thrilled to welcome Dame Meg Hillier, MP for Hackney South and Shoreditch, to #NetilCorner, our newly opened studio space in Hackney, just before the Christmas break. During her visit, we showcased how we’ve reimagined this once-abandoned WeWork building into a hub for industry-leading creative brands and businesses. From bespoke studio spaces designed to reflect the individuality of our curated community to thoughtfully developed communal facilities such as rooftop saunas and break out spaces with panoramic views of London’s skyline, it was a great opportunity to show off how workspace should be designed to inspire innovation and collaboration. Dame Meg Hillier met with a number of our remarkable residents, including: • TAG Agency, a pioneering organisation connecting underrepresented young Londoners to opportunities in the creative industries through partnerships with major brands like CoppaFeel! and Spotify. • Kate Dawkins Studio, an acclaimed creative force behind events such as D-Day 80, The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo and the opening and closing ceremonies of the London 2012 Olympics. Her visit highlighted the importance of spaces like Netil Corner in fostering creative businesses that not only define London’s creative identity but also champion inclusivity in the industry. Netil Corner represents our commitment to providing small and medium-sized businesses with spaces that go beyond functionality — spaces designed for the kind of creativity that shapes the future. #eatworkart #creativestudio #workspace #hackneycreatives

  • As we celebrate the 15-year anniversary of Netil House this year, we’ve been reflecting on how the building has evolved during our time here. Once a derelict corporate office building, the space has gradually developed into a dynamic ecosystem of creative leaders, with individuals in a range of industries working at the forefront of London’s creative scene. With the addition of over 100 new spaces in the new Netil Corner extension, which has almost doubled the size of the Netil community, we’ve taken this moment to look toward the future. How can we ensure that the community stands as a key figure in London’s dynamic creative scene? It’s why we’re transforming Netil House with our Membership model, creating a more collaborative creative ecosystem, which aims at bringing in a new concept of flexible workspace — offering integrated and best-in-class creative services, hospitality offerings and more flexibility for residents. This includes… • All inclusive pricing • Rolling contracts • Ability to move spaces, upsize and downsize anytime, easily and quickly • Coworking add ons • ‘One-stop-shop’ access to hospitality and additional services including photography and recording studios, wellness facilities (including free saunas*), meeting rooms and call booths • More hands-on community management This new approach also offers access to add-on services and tiered memberships, catering to a broader range of creatives — from individual freelancers to large businesses, ensuring our community remains diverse. As we continue to grow and innovate, we’re excited to see how these changes will empower our diverse community of creatives, keeping Eat Work Art’s studio spaces and communities within at the heart of London’s creative scene for years to come. #eatworkart #netilhouse

  • Why are fit-out projects such as offices, workspaces and studios so wasteful? Creating beautiful studio spaces and curating the communities within them all begins with our Development & Design team, who look at an existing space and reimagine how it can be inhabited by London’s creative leaders. Whereas for some spatial developers and designers this may mean starting from scratch, our team put reuse at the heart of their work. Alongside custom furnishings and precisely curated interior choices, we look at how we can repurpose what is good quality to avoid waste. At Netil Corner, the site was left with a whole range of materials that we have been able to reuse across the site, as well as at our other studios. Anything that we don’t require has been given a new life or donated to other construction projects to keep the building’s economy circular. #eatworkart #materials #construction #newmaterials

  • Why did we start from the top and work down in our development of #NetilCorner? In the final stage of the development process — the second floor of the building — has been a much more ‘custom’ project, in many senses of the word. Whereas on the first and third floors we have taken an approach to upgrade the space, thinking along the lines of reimagining and reusing what were still valuable materials, the second floor has been approached from an entirely different angle. The Development and Design teams have started from scratch with much of the space, pulling out a lot of the existing glass walls to build large scale studios and custom sized spaces for much larger design, creative and desk-based teams than we’ve seen at our other sites. Focusing on maximising natural light in the studios, adding extra amenities in the communal areas and upgrading the existing glass partitions used by the building’s previous residents, the space has been transformed from severe, corporate and cold to a softer, warmer place better suited to creatives. Many of the original building’s structures have been made features of — namely the steel structures running throughout studios, which have added character in countless spaces. 📸 Before development.
