Happy International Women's Day! Barbara cutting a new path through the shop floor! Edbro as a company is over 100 years old with almost 200 employees and even though we have a majority of long-serving team members it’s fair to say that heavy industrial engineering is not everyone’s cup of tea! The task of attracting people into this environment is challenging enough but seems even harder when it comes to attracting women to join the Edbro ranks. Women make up 31% of the Edbro leadership team but only 8% of the overall Edbro workforce and all of the 8% worked in indirect roles…that is until Barbara joined us just under two years ago. Since joining as a semi-skilled employee, she has gone on to learn many functions and has become an integral part of the team. Barbara currently runs one of the key off road welding machines for our top international customers so the next time you see a picture of a huge 350 ton mining tipper there’s a good chance Barbara had a hand in welding the lifting cylinder! #women in engineering #join team Edbro
