Education Authority (Northern Ireland)
Education Administration Programs
Our Vision: To inspire, support and challenge all our Children and Young People to be the best that they can be
About us
The Education Authority (EA) was created on 01 April 2015 as a new organisation responsible to the Department of Education (DE) for the delivery of education services to schools and youth centres across Northern Ireland. The work we do impacts the lives of tens of thousands of children, young people and their families every day. The services we provide are essential in supporting, encouraging and facilitating learning within our communities to develop generations of young people who are equipped to succeed in life and work in the modern world. As a public sector organisation, we must continue to deliver these vital services in a challenging environment of increasing financial pressure and under intense public scrutiny. EA is at the beginning of an exciting journey of organisational transformation and modernisation. Emerging from the five Education and Library Boards (ELBs) our aim is to build a new organisation which is focused on meeting the needs of all our young people equally, removing barriers to learning and ensuring equality of access to excellent education services so that every child can develop to his or her full potential.

🎸 EA Music Head of Service, Darren Canmore, and teachers from Belfast Boy’s Model, Colaiste Feirste, and Malone Integrated College were delighted to meet the world-renowned musician and singer-songwriter, Ed Sheeran, at Matchetts Music, Belfast, on Friday 10th January. Accompanied by Snow Patrol's Gary Lightbody, they discussed music education in the north as part of the UK-wide launch of his new charity, The Ed Sheeran Foundation. 🗣️ Darren Canmore said, "EA Music was delighted to be part of the discussion on music education with local schoolteachers and Charlotte Dryden from the Oh Yeah Music Centre, and we look forward to collaborating with the Ed Sheeran Foundation in the future." The Ed Sheeran Foundation is an initiative committed to addressing inequalities in music education by supporting state schools and grassroots music organisations, particularly in underserved areas, championing equal access to instruments, studio time and training, and providing opportunity for every young person to explore their potential through music. 🤝 The Foundation will support three local music organisations, namely Drake Music Northern Ireland, Hotbox Entertainment and the Oh Yeah Music Centre. #EducationAuhority | #EAMusicService | #EdSheeran | #SnowPatrol
