  • Today is opening day! Frome's Community fridge has returned to the Loop de Loop building (the colourful building near the town library!) and will open today at 9AM! The Loop de Loop fridge will be in addition to the fridge behind the town hall — it's not going anywhere! The Loop de Loop fridge will be open from 9AM to 5PM everyday, and the fridge by the town hall fridge will stay open 8AM to 7PM. We can't wait for you to start using the Loop de Loop fridge again. It's all about fighting food waste in Frome. So far, we've saved 9 Wembley Stadiums worth of food, and we can't wait to save so much more. Did you know Frome's Community Fridge was the first of its kind in the UK when it first launched in 2016? It was launched with the help of an Edventure Incubation team! Learn more about the Community Fridge, and support the project to keep going for years to come, by going to https://lnkd.in/eeBJNy-f

  • Tune in today at 5PM for the Edventure Show on FromeFM 96.6 - to discover Frome Families for the Future with our guest Gem - what they're about, what they're up to, and how they are making a change. We dive into talking all about the River Vision Project; on a mission to make the Frome River a place everyone can enjoy. We discussed Frome Families for the Future's recent activity in Frome - from inspiring the community with a vision of a better future, organising protests, to building an 11-foot otter sculpture and even writing a song about the river — made by the community. We’re always inspired by change-makers like Gem who prove just how powerful collective action can be in making real change, and inspiring others. Catch the episode on FromeFM 96.6FM this Monday at 5 PM or listen online from Tuesday at https://lnkd.in/eSziUgmZ! • There are 7 mindsets shaping Britain, according to a model by More in Common (2020). This week we discovered this model at Edventure Frome's Comms for Change course, as a way to think about and tailor our communications work. According to the model, there are 7 different segments in the UK, which based on our core beliefs and psychology. We can pick up this tool to get an insight into our audience(s) core beliefs, hopes and frustrations, and in doing so, connect better to our audience and provide higher value content. ❗However, the 7 Segments isn't perfect — and some think that it's a restrictive oversimplification of complex individuality — and may not want to be in, or put others in, such categories. So, use this as one of many potential tools to get thinking about communications — a guide to get thinking, but not a label or an absolute. What do you think? Will you be able to utilise this tool? Is it helpful or too restrictive? Comment below 💬 This a simplification of the 7 Segments model - you can read more at https://lnkd.in/eERgNfe9 #frome #edventurefrome #somerset #fromesomerset #somersetuk #marketing #Communications #CommsForChange #AudienceEngagement #MarketingStrategy #UKMindsets #SocialPsychology #AudienceInsights #CommunityEngagement #MoreInCommon #ContentCreation

  • How storytelling and meeting people where they are can lead to real impact 🧵 Last week, Solitaire Townsend, a sustainability solutionist and expert communicator, joined us virtually to share her insights with Edventure's Comms for Change student team. Here are some key insights we discovered for communicating change: 🗝️ It's tough to change the way people think — instead, meet them where they are and work within their world view to get them moving 🗝️ Stories and anecdotes resonate more deeply than facts, but facts still matter—so share both 🗝️ People engage most with what aligns with their identity—communicate how sustainability fits their world, and tailor messages to what individuals value 🗝️ Bring people on board by showing benefits in relation to their motivations, be they functional (health, money, save time), emotional (pleasure, self worth) or social (community, more desirable to others) Want to learn 5 more communications tips, on reaching audiences with climate solutions? • Edventure were proud to join the Climate Coalitions Meet your MP day of action at the Edventure Hub. We were joined by the amazing Helen Meeche from Climate Coalition, representatives from Parents For the Future and Somerset Wildlife Trust. We talked with our local MP Anna Sabine about the links between climate, health and nature, the urgent need to clean up our waterways, and the importance of cross-party working on these issues. Thank you to Helen Meeche for arranging and Anna Sabine for being a great listener and making the effort to get out to her constituency and ask how she can be of most value to Frome and East Somerset. #frome #fromesomerset #somerset #ClimateCoalition #MeetYourMP #Frome #EastSomerset #ClimateAction #EnvironmentalHealth #SustainableFuture #CommunityEngagement
