We were pleased to host Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, The Rt Hon. Pat McFadden MP from the Cabinet Office as part of his ministerial visit to Liverpool earlier this week. LSTM's Vice-Chancellor Professor David Lalloo gave the Minister a tour of our new Human Challenge Facility, a new £8m investment in accelerating the development of new tests, treatments and vaccines against a range of pathogens. Working alongside NHS and industry partners, the new facility builds on LSTM and the region’s rich base of infectious disease research and nationally recognised expertise in patient and public health interventions. The Minister also visited The Pandemic Institute, which coincided with the Government’s announcement of new measures to strengthen the UK against future pandemics and keep the public safe. 𝐖𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 to hear that our brand new Institute of Technology was recognised during discussions in Parliament earlier this week! 🧡 This acknowledgement highlights our commitment to innovation and excellence in technical education. With advanced facilities and a curriculum designed to meet the evolving needs of industry, we are looking forward to nurturing the next generation of engineers, digital pioneers and health scientists and more. With building works progressing at pace, the new facility will be ready to welcome learners from September, and we are 𝐬𝐨 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 the IoT will have on our region in the years to come. 🤩

We are already transforming the historic Old Library in Oldham and will bring our wealth of experience and expertise to breathe new life into this renowned theatre. Making Christmas magic happen! This year we have arranged a Christmas appeal on Tilbury Douglas North West sites to ensure all local children receive a gift on Christmas morning. Oldham Library site kicked off the festive cheer with donations going to Oldham Council #OperationXmas. Had the absolute pleasure today of supporting PLACED Academy with Avison Young │ UK and BCA Landscape to run a full day masterplanning workshop with young people from all over the north west keen to explore opportunities for careers in the built environment. The enthusiasm and energy was infectious and many of the ideas and collaborative outcomes shared will be taken forward for consideration in our final proposals for the Royal Liverpool University Hospital Site Masterplan. Once complete, this 4000 square metre facility will house cutting-edge equipment from robotics, 3D printers and CNC machinery to an immersive VR cylinder, all designed to inspire and equip students with in-demand technical skills.
