Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, The Rt Hon. Pat McFadden MP last week visited the new £8m Human Challenge Facility which is due to open this year. The facility is one of the largest non-commercial facilities of its kind, with the potential to speed up vaccine development by working with volunteers to test new vaccines and treatments under controlled conditions #EWArchitects
We were pleased to host Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, The Rt Hon. Pat McFadden MP from the Cabinet Office as part of his ministerial visit to Liverpool earlier this week. LSTM's Vice-Chancellor Professor David Lalloo gave the Minister a tour of our new Human Challenge Facility, a new £8m investment in accelerating the development of new tests, treatments and vaccines against a range of pathogens. Working alongside NHS and industry partners, the new facility builds on LSTM and the region’s rich base of infectious disease research and nationally recognised expertise in patient and public health interventions. The Minister also visited The Pandemic Institute, which coincided with the Government’s announcement of new measures to strengthen the UK against future pandemics and keep the public safe. Wow well done to everyone who dedicated their time to the PLACED Academy masterplanning workshop at the weekend not only does it help 35 young people experience the built environment but also represents their perspectives on a live project #nextgeneration #socialvalue
Had the absolute pleasure today of supporting PLACED Academy with Avison Young │ UK and BCA Landscape to run a full day masterplanning workshop with young people from all over the north west keen to explore opportunities for careers in the built environment. The enthusiasm and energy was infectious and many of the ideas and collaborative outcomes shared will be taken forward for consideration in our final proposals for the Royal Liverpool University Hospital Site Masterplan. A big thanks go Stephen Cowperthwaite Joe Smith Andy Thomson Hussein Razak Sarah Alrazak Mushtaq Saleri Matt Weir Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospital NHS Trust but most of all the 35 Placed Academy students who made my day!
