This Embassy hosted a wine tasting yesterday afternoon, continuing with its plan to strengthen the presence of Argentine wine in the UK market The event took place at the Official Residence and was organized in collaboration with Wines of Argentina and the British Argentine Chamber of Commerce. In this occasion, the catalogue was carefully curated aiming to showcase Argentina’s wide-range of varietals beyond the well-known Malbec. Guests had the chance to enjoy a rich variety of Petit Verdot, Chardonnay, Torrontes, Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Syrah, among others In attendance were renowned wine critic Jancis Robinson; Diego Carrejo, from the International Wine and Spirit Competition IWSC - Club Oenologique; Lilyane Weston from the Circle of Wine Writers; Andrea Rinaldi, President of the UK Sommelier Association; as well as representatives from the Wine and Spirit Trade Association, and Head Sommeliers from different hotels and restaurants. Among the 21 wineries were Bodega Atamisque, Buscado Vivo o Muerto, Cave Extreme, Elemental Wines, Estancia Los Cardones, Finca La Anita, La Cayetana, Marchiori & Barraud, Mauricio Lorca, Michelini I Muffatto, Otronia, Vallisto Extremo, Ver Sacrum, Zuccardi Valle de Uco, Rutini Wines, Penedo Borges, and Huichaira. Guest wineries also included Colomé, El Enemigo and Durigutti Family Winemakers, which were part of the 12 Argentine wineries that have made it to this year’s 100 world’s best vineyards. Completing the wineries list was Catena Zapata, which has recently been inducted into the Hall of Fame, after winning last year’s Best Vineyard in the World.
