A fantastic day spent at Great Chalfield, working alongside the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust breaking ground on a very exciting new agroforestry project, and taking part in an arable weed survey with our wonderful seed supplier Emorsgate Seeds. A huge thanks to all involved for their support.

Felt good to break ground today on our #agroforestry project at Great Chalfield 🌱 Working between our trusty geode, GIS mapping and our brilliant farm contractors (C P Awdry), we were able to mark down and plough our new rows with speed and ease. These rows will now be seeded and finally planted this winter with a diverse mix of trees, including fruit, nut and just pure natives to support #biodiversity, #soilhealth and #watermanagement. The alleys between will be sown in spring to create a resilient #silvoarable system. With thanks to #treesforclimate funding as part of the #GreatWesternCommunityForest for supporting this project 🌳 And great to be working in partnership with National Trust Adam Finch to make it happen! Looking forward to seeing trees go in very soon 🤞🏻 Daisy Huxter Jane Kinney Wiltshire Wildlife Trust National Trust #naturebasedsolutions #naturerecovery #treeplanting #sustainablefarming #naturefriendlyfarming

Every year, we all go away as a team for a couple of days to say thank you for everyones hard work but also to inspire us for the year ahead! This year was no exception! Two smashing days that blended the ultra high tech with the reason we get out of bed, nature! It started at Emorsgate Seeds with the always exceptional welcome by Donald, Jane Laurie MacIntyre. A visit round their incredible wildflower seed farm near Bath where we mingled with their Shire horses and dogs but also absorbed some of their great wildflower knowledge. Followed by a cold dip followed by a wood fired sauna.. Heaven! This is nature at its best. Dinner followed at a sustainable restaurant called Roots in Bristol. If you haven't been you must. Vegetables cooked in a way one only dreams of. Day 2 was where we dipped our toes into the potential of tech, welcomed by Jack Farmer at LettUs Grow who showed us round their amazing indoor farm. Very different but equally inspiring. It shows us the potential that tech can bring our business. What will the future of Vertical Meadow in 2025 look like? Likely to be a healthy blend between the authenticity and provenance of Emorsgate Seeds and a sprinkle of high tech inspired by LettUs Grow.. The future is looking exciting for us and 'nature! Really proud of the team as well with their continuous hard work and good humour. #biodiversity #naturebasedsolutions #naturerecovery
