End Violence Against Women Coalition

This week's #Budget24 promises a much-needed injection of spending in public services. But while VAWG is a national emergency, with 2 million victims every year, funding for prevention work and life-saving support services remains inadequate and insecure - particularly for services led by and for Black and minoritised women. We urgently need clarity on how the government will invest in meeting its own mission to halve violence against women and girls. This cannot be done without sustaining the vital services survivors rely on.

Her strength inspires hope as we seek to build a different world. Ending sexual violence means changing the way we talk about rape. Labelling perpetrators as ‘monsters’ frames acts of violence as extraordinary or rare, when in fact 1 in 4 women have been raped or sexually assaulted as an adult and most perpetrators are known to the victim. Boys aren't necessarily searching for misogynistic content, but we know algorithms are pushing it to them when they are seeking community or advice on issues like mental health or fitness. Our Director Andrea Simon spoke to Kasia Madera BBC News about why we need better regulation of tech companies if we are to end male violence against women and girls.
