Low-carbon hydrogen was identified as “essential” to achieving the government’s clean energy and growth missions in this month's update to the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero’s hydrogen strategy. “Low carbon hydrogen has a unique role to play in supporting the decarbonisation of power and in transitioning vital UK industries away from fossil fuels,” said UK minister of state for industry, Sarah Jones. Ithaca Energy's wellhead protector platform on the Captain field in the North Sea has suffered a crane failure which has led to drilling crews being evacuated. “Lack of maintenance is now biting them at a time of the year when the crew should be looked after and appreciated," wrote a Unite the Union member aboard Captain. 🗨 69% of British consumers are supportive of net-zero efforts, but only 33% are willing to pay higher energy premiums, according to Accenture. “Shifting from an asset to a customer focus, energy providers need to get customers on board and create momentum and trust in the net-zero transition,” said Accenture UK resources lead Gavin Moore.
