It’s not every day the Sugar Plum Cavalier visits your Dance for Parkinson’s class! Great to see our Principal Dancer Gareth Haw visiting his hometown of Cardiff and getting involved with one of National Dance Company Wales’ weekly Dance for Parkinson’s class. Gareth and our Head of Creative Programmes Laura Harvey took class with 15 regular participants, plus the wonderful Associate Artists Yvette and Helen, focusing on Nutcracker and the different sweets from our upcoming brand-new production. They also looked at a phrase from the ballet and got some great insight through a Q&A session. 📣 English National Ballet to feature on Sky Arts this Christmas. Tune in to Sky Arts this December, for a two-part documentary taking you behind the scenes of the making of our brand-new Nutcracker. The new series, Nutcracker: Backstage with English National Ballet, showcases the meticulous preparations and the all-important rehearsals which build to opening night. The channel will also screen a full performance of Nutcracker, captured in all its magic at the London Coliseum. English National Ballet’s Artistic Director and joint Choreographer of Nutcracker, Aaron S. Watkin, said: “Nutcracker holds a special place in English National Ballet’s history and in the hearts of our audiences. In 1950, we were one of the first UK companies to introduce the production into our repertoire and we have performed a version every year since. It’s wonderful to be able to open up the world of ballet as we work to bring new magic and wonder to this much-loved piece, offering real insight into what happens behind-the-scenes as a new production makes its way to the stage.” https://bit.ly/3USLBrF #Nutcracker #Ballet #SkyArts

Two fan favourites return next spring! The Forsythe Programme at Sadler's Wells, with three works by William Forsythe, promises to be very special. Audiences loved his irresistible Playlist (EP) when we performed it in 2022. It's now back to bring more joy into our lives, alongside his classic Herman Scherman (Quintet), not seen in the UK for nearly 30 years, and a world premiere by the master choreographer. Returning to stages with the production sponsor Cunard, tickets are available now: https://lnkd.in/eYFxrNWC Our popular work for young children, My First Ballet: Swan Lake will be back next Easter to the Peacock Theatre, following sold out performances last year. 🗣️ “My day-today work is quite intense, I care for my Mum and I’m also a counsellor so it’s quite deep, so being able to be free and liberated and think more about my needs was empowering” Ivona from Stratford, East London As part of Age UK’s Silver Sunday, we joined forces with London Borough of Newham Ageing Well Festival to deliver some free open dance workshops taught by our English National Ballet Associate Artists Hannah Wilson, Kate Hartley Stevens and musician Domenico Angarano. It was brilliant to be able to celebrate the health and wellbeing of Newham residents, support them in finding out information about activities and services available in the borough and demonstrate the power of our creative dance health programmes. ℹ️ For more information about ENB’s Dance for Health programme’s head to our website here: https://lnkd.in/ejW4w3p7 #SilverSundayUK #DanceHealth #CreativeHealth #EastLondon
