Generating a financially robust future for landowners by planting, maintaining & purchasing cricket bat willow trees.
About us
English Willow is dedicated to generating a financially robust and flood resilient future for British farmers & landowners by planting, maintaining and purchasing cricket bat willow trees (salix alba caerulea), across the UK, on low-lying, wet and often under-utilised areas of land. Growing cricket bat willows not only offers environmental benefits such as riverbank stabilisation, flood mitigation and habitat for birds, insects and mammals but also provides British landowners with generous tax free, generational returns. We create new plantations, maintain these trees for free, buy them back at maturity and replace each tree felled, free of charge. Thanks to England’s temperate climate, well-suited soils and long history and expertise in selecting and breeding the best trees, English cricket bat willow remains the benchmark for quality and is the most highly sought after for professional cricketers around the world. The launch of new international cricket leagues and grassroot programmes around the world, as well as cricket being introduced, for the first time, into the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, the cricket market and value of cricket bat willow trees looks set to continue to flourish well into the future. We are passionate about the environment, keeping up to date with the latest grants, schemes and expert advice on how incorporating cricket bat willows into wider environmental schemes can benefit landowners whilst continuing to fulfil the global demand for quality cricket bats.

A lovely farm event our Client Director spoke at to talk about the benefits of incorporating cricket bat willows into Agroforestry schemes.
Generating a lucrative & flood resilient future for British farmers & landowners by purchasing, planting and maintaining cricket bat willow trees.
Throw back to a couple of weeks ago when our fantastic Client Director, Josh Thornton spoke about the benefits of cricket bat willows in agroforestry schemes. Agroforestry provides some of the best payments under the government SFI scheme and cricket bat willows are the most lucrative timber to grow for British landowners. A great combination particularly for low lying soils where flood mitigation and soil stabilisation is required. Thank you to Chloe Timberlake from Ceres Rural for organising the event for the Ray Farmer Cluster and to Lopemede Farm for hosting at their beautiful estate in Oxfordshire. Lovely to hear from the other speakers; Nicholsons and Forestry England. #agroforestry #sfischemes #cricketbatwillow #englishwillow #biodiversity #floodmitigation
