💜 27 BABIES… and counting! Enhanced Fertility rings the bell in celebration of our baby No. 27. It always brings us joy to be involved in our patient’s/s journey and getting them one step closer to their fertility goal. 💜 So what’s the story? Our patients were a heterosexual couple, in their late thirties, who had been trying to conceive for the past 5 years. During these years the man had been diagnosed with azoospermia: the inability to produce sperm. With Enhanced Fertility, the woman had been diagnosed with low ovarian reserve. The couple had been undergoing counselling with Enhanced Fertility for a year. 💜 So what changed? In discussion with their fertility medical team, it was brought to the attention that despite a low ovarian reserve, it was still worth it to have treatment. In combination with donor sperm, the couple continued their fertility journey. ✨ A year later their baby was born and a new family had started. #ivf #fertility #infertility #reproductivemedicine #celebration Andreia Trigo Frank. 💜 5 Factors that affect implantation after embryo transfer Both internal and external factors can impact embryo development after transferring into the uterus. Here are five: 1. 👫 Egg, Sperm and Embryo Quality: Good quality eggs and sperm are more likely to result in a good quality embryo, which has higher chances of implantation after embryo transfer. 2. 🪺 Endometrial Receptivity: Endometrial receptivity occurs 6 days after the post-ovulatory progesterone surge and lasts about 2 to 4 days. In some women, the receptivity window is displaced, occurring a few days before or after that expected period. If embryos are implanted outside the endometrial receptivity window, implantation will not occur. 3. 🩸 Hormones: Hormonal or metabolic disorders, like low progesterone levels, uncontrolled diabetes, thyroid disease, and variations in the prolactin levels can affect the implantation of the embryo in the uterus. 4. 🫂 Anatomical Changes Anatomical problems such as shape, a septum, positioning of the uterus, endometrial polyps, uterine fibroids, adhesions, hydrosalpinxes, and endometriosis can affect implantation. 5. 🏃♀️ Lifestyle & Habits: Unhealthy diets, smoking, or practising vigorous exercise can affect embryo implantation. The embryo will sense and react to environmental cues. A healthy lifestyle will help the embryo develop in a good environment. 💜 In vitro fertilisation (IVF) is a type of assisted conception where an egg is fertilised outside the body. IVF has become the most effective treatment for nearly all causes of infertility Here are the steps for IVF: 👩 1. Suppress the menstrual cycle & Ovary stimulation: This helps all of your eggs to mature simultaneously, increasing the chances of a successful egg retrieval. Medication is also given to stimulate egg production further increasing the chances of egg retrieval. 💉 2. Trigger injection: This injection helps the egg’s final maturation and loosen them from the follicle wall. 🧫 3. Collection & Fertilization: About 34-36 hours after the trigger injection, the eggs need to be collected. Sperm is collected from the man for the fertilisation to take place outside of the female body 🚅 4. Embryo Transfer: The embryo is then transferred into the uterus. This is done using a catheter that's passed into the vagina, through the cervix and into the uterus. 🫂 5. Patience & Pregnancy. Clients must wait two weeks before taking a pregnancy test to see results IVF is not an easy process, however, with patience and the right support, clients/s should have easy accessibility and guidance, which should provide an easy process.
