About us

Entrepreneur First invests in exceptional individuals to build startups from scratch. We bring together talented outliers to develop their most ambitious ideas and raise money from the world’s best investors. Since pioneering Talent Investing in 2014, we’ve learned to recognize individuals with extraordinary futures before anyone else, embedding them in a community of ambitious peers and giving them the tools they need to succeed, fast. We back them before they have a company, a team, even before they have an idea, based purely on talent. The startups cofounded on our programs are now worth over $10B, and include Tractable, Magic Pony Technology, Cleo, La Vie, Aztec, Sonantic, and many more. EF is backed by some of the world's leading founders and investors, including Patrick and John Collison (Stripe); Reid Hoffman (LinkedIn), Tom Blomfield (GoCardless and Monzo), Sara Clemens (Whatnot and Twitch); Demis Hassabis (Google Deepmind); and Matt Mullenweg (Wordpress). We exist to make great companies happen that otherwise wouldn’t. For more information about Entrepreneur First, visit www.joinef.com We're hiring! Are you fundamentally more productive with your cofounder than what you previously thought possible? Once you’ve identified a potential cofounder the best way to test the relationship is to start building a company. In Episode # 3 of their podcast series ‘How to be a Founder’, Alice Bentinck and Matt Clifford discuss the importance of front loading failure and addressing compatibility concerns early on with radical candour. Startups are inherently volatile, but it’s important not to put off difficult conversations. Make sure you’re aligned on what you’re working on, what your roles are, and what you're expecting progress to be. It’s important to be honest with yourself and your cofounder about this and not to shy away from breaking up if needed: “It’s natural to want to defer painful conversations, but great founders run into the spike” When testing cofounder relationships, one of the most important things to look at is readiness to found. For Alice and Matt, commitment is a key non-negotiable along with a number of others outlined in their book linked below. One of the advantages of joining EF is the guarantee that everyone on the cohort has committed to founding now, and given up something valuable to be there full time. There are decades where nothing happens and week-ends where decades happen. Twice a month, we bring together a select group of aspiring founders at Entrepreneur First's Saturday Morning Club. The idea is simple: find your co-founder, work on real ideas, get on a clear path to securing $250k for your project and launch your company in San Francisco. This event isn’t for everyone. We’re building a carefully curated community of individuals who are dead serious about becoming founders. Next session will be special, as we’re partnering with Singular, the fund behind Typology and Shares. A special thank you to Julia DenolyMaud Larbey, and Carolina Neri for making this session possible! Register here: https://lu.ma/smc5 See you in 2034 ;)

Finding the right cofounder involves searching, selecting, and testing with a number of potential people to find the right fit. But what happens if you don’t have enough people in your network who are as determined and ambitious as you? And even if you do, are they ready to start a company right now? In Episode # 2 of their podcast ‘How to be a Founder’ Alice Bentinck and Matt Clifford discuss the outsized benefits of finding the RIGHT cofounder, and the culture they’ve created at EF that embraces forming and re-forming teams at pace. For many founders, access to a large pool of potential cofounders is one of the significant early hurdles. If you’re still at university and wanting to found a company then reach out to one of our Talent Investors below to find out how EF turns ambitious strangers into cofounders over a 12 week period. For further advice on how to select and test your ideas with potential cofounders, check out Alice and Matt’s book on How to be a Founder linked below. - How to find a cofounder Episode #2 Spotify 👉https://lnkd.in/eag58Yvj - How to find a cofounder Episode #2 Apple Podcasts 👉 https://lnkd.in/eyPE_54v - How to be a Founder book 👉 https://lnkd.in/eUVdCnaU

Investing in exceptional talent to build startups from scratch @ Entrepreneur First

I recently kicked off a series of 💗Female Founder Breakfasts💗 at Entrepreneur First, and hearing from women founders as they share their wins and challenges has shown me just how energising and valuable a space like this can be. That's why I’d love to open it up to my network and beyond! I've always had role models - people who’ve changed over time but consistently inspired me to step up my game in life and work. These breakfasts are here to offer that same kind of inspiration - a chance for women considering founding their own company to connect and learn from founders in our current cohort. Plus, you'll get to hear from guest speakers including EF alumni who have raised from top VC funds and are making waves in their industries as I write this. This is an opportunity to get real, no-BS insights into what it takes to build a successful venture! We're primarily looking for current undergrad, masters, or PhD students, as well as early professionals. If you’re interested in joining us, please apply via the link in the comments. We’re keeping it small and selective, so spots are very limited. Looking forward to meeting some innncreeddibleee women! Habs Isabelle Kim Maria Luque Anguita Ladislaya L. Emily Tsen Jemima B.
