We work nationally within UK providing in-ground risk solutions covering all aspects of environmental, geotechnical and flood/drainage risk for top names in residential, retail, industrial and petrochemical sectors. We pride ourselves on our practical and innovative approach with particular emphasis placed on delivering commercially sensitive, expedient and cost effective ground investigation services to our clients. We have a genuine belief that although the science behind good environmental and geotechnical assessment can be complicated at times, the significant issues and the solutions which are being proposed must be presented in a clear, concise and above all understandable manner. In 2022 our group grew with the addition of Herrington Consulting, bringing significant enhancement and expansion of our capabilities in flood risk and surface water engineering, coastal management as well as daylight / sunlight analysis. We're supporting Tom Keys-Toyer and our very own Kate Wooldridge MRICS in their efforts to raise awareness and fund-raise for Boys In Mind. Tom is running a 630mile coastal run in tribute to his middle son, Sam, who took his own life aged just 17. Kate will be joining Tom along the way and the run starts on Saturday 2nd November. Boys in Mind is a charity which works in partnership with children, young people and professionals in a range of settings to promote good mental health and prevent suicide. 'Boys In Mind Appeal' It’s beyond most of us to truly understand how you cope with the loss of a child, but it’s happened to one of our own. My cousin Tom Keys-Toyer and his kind and generous family, with whom I’ve always been close to, tragically lost their middle boy, Sam just before his 18th birthday in 2020 during lock-down. We can’t change things, but Tom has given us all the gift of being able to openly support the family in raising awareness and funds for the charity 'Boys in Mind' through running, yes running, the South West Coastal Path in November this year over consecutive days (ok he’s allowed one day off a week). That’s 630 miles in goodness knows what sort of weather!! With a son, husband, brother, cousins and uncles, and many male friends and colleagues, preventing such heart-breaking suicide is something I am grateful to this charity for. If we can steer this from happening to other families, then this is what Sam would have wanted too. Fascinating talk this evening at the Cambridge Forum for the Construction Industry (CFCI) regarding BIG heat pumps and city scale heat networks. Many challenges ahead, one of which will be encouraging residents to use centrally distributed heat rather than an individual supply.

A Digital 3D Geo-referenced Site Model. “You don’t know you need it until you do." Aerial, Laser or LiDAR derived pointcloud data. Are they just a ‘nice to have, or are they now essential to your workflow? With a variety of software allowing cloud-hosted viewability and measurability, are we even fully aware of the ways in which we can benefit from pointclouds? Our valued client – Matthew Sargent of Brackley Investments Ltd recently said to me that “You don’t know you need it until you do, and then it’s an incredibly powerful tool. The ‘value’ they bring in facilitating designers and developers to look ‘deeper’ into their projects is unparalleled. Air Quality Impact Assessments - you are likely to need one if your construction project is located within or near an Air Quality Management Area, or if the project is capable of generating a lot of dust or vehicle emissions during the construction phase or once it's operational. At EPS we have 20+ years of in-house experience in the air quality sector, which has steered us to our preferred approach: to seek minimal impact in a cost effective fashion, as opposed to simply addressing poor air quality often when it is already too late.
