ERCS are proud to announce the successful completion of a large-scale, cost effective UXO survey in Scotland, in collaboration with Unexploded Scotland. In just 18.5 operational days, the team covered 74ha of LiDAR along with 77ha of magnetometer surveys, utilising the latest UAV technology to reduce project risks by identifying potential unexploded ordnance (UXO) on-site, particularly close to live operational assets. Through a combination of non-intrusive UAV-mounted magnetometer, LiDAR, and photogrammetry surveys, we successfully: - Detected magnetic anomalies and surface targets. - Delivered precise data for Unexploded Scotland to conduct further analysis. - Produced comprehensive reports that detail our findings and methodologies. - Ensured a safe and smooth transition into the construction phase, all while staying on the intended operational schedule. We’re proud to share that we achieved zero HSE incidents throughout the project, demonstrating our commitment to safety while maintaining a cost-effective approach to the surveys. The integration of photogrammetry, LiDAR, and magnetometer data provided a powerful toolkit for these large-scale UXO surveys. Each technology brought unique strengths, and together they offered a comprehensive view of both surface and subsurface anomalies. This approach significantly enhanced: - Accuracy: allowing us to discount irrelevant surface targets. - Efficiency: in quickly identifying true risks, especially near operational assets. - Safety: particularly in challenging environments. - Cost Effectiveness: allowing us to discount identifiable surface anomalies reducing the scope for the investigation campaign. In the example, the boundary fence wire is clearly identified using both photogrammetry and magnetometer results. Additionally, we have cross-correlated data showcasing a borehole location, demonstrating how integrated data can provide critical insights for safe project planning.
