📜 📢 At our AGM yesterday, we launched our manifesto for 2024 and beyond, titled 'Employment Support for a Future Labour Market' Our manifesto addresses critical issues such as the impact of an aging population, technological advancements, the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the ending of existing government employability programmes on employment and economic growth. Through five principal themes, including sustainable commissioning, a fairer labour market, access to provision, meeting the needs of employers, and health solutions for work, our manifesto offers concrete proposals to address current issues and drive better outcomes for all. ⬇⬇⬇

Today, November 26th, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions Liz Kendall published the ‘Get Britain Working’ white paper. Billed as the "biggest employment reforms in a generation" to address the fact that 9.25 million people in the UK are economically inactive. The white paper announced new plans to support local areas dealing with economic inactivity, the first steps in the government's Youth Guarantee, and reforms to Jobcentre Plus to create a new Jobs and Careers Service. Please follow the link below to read ERSA's briefing on the white paper and ERSA's CEO Elizabeth Taylor's analysis. https://lnkd.in/eGqnnJRW

Yesterday (30th October), Rachel Reeves delivered her first budget as Chancellor of the Exchequer. Yesterday we sent out a briefing to the ERSA mailing list (linked below), outlining several policies that matter to our members. Including additional funding for ‘trailblazer areas’ to tackle economic inactivity, updates to ‘Universal Support’ now called ‘Connect to Work’, devolution, welfare reform, and new skills initiatives. We hope the government will now engage with ERSA and our members soon to work out how to fill the gaps that could arise from today’s announcements. Similarly, we await more details on many of these proposals in the Get Britain Working white paper, which will be released later in the Autumn. Come and discuss all this and more at the ERSA Conference, December 4th in Westminster (link in comments). https://lnkd.in/e9QFNegB #WorkingForBetterWork

Yesterday, we were delighted to host an event for colleagues at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport to showcase the fantastic work of our grantees. 💡 It was great to hear about the impact their work is having on young people’s lives, and highlight how we have been working in partnership to generate evidence to drive systemic change. Thanks to Cumbria Youth Alliance, Football Beyond Borders, Right To Succeed, Dartington Service Design Lab, and Employment Related Services Association (ERSA) for joining us!
