Early Years Special Education Needs Inclusion Funding (SENIF) update!  SENIF is our new approach to top up funding that helps support inclusion for early years children with additional needs. A setting could use SENIF to help enhance the adult to child ratio, or perhaps to buy resources specifically needed by the child. We're thrilled to announce that Zenith Multi Academy Trust has been selected to run the first ever Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) school in Rayleigh! 🏫 We'll work alongside the trust, landowner, Vistry Group, and recently announced contractor, Kier Group as plans to establish the school progress. 150 places will be created at the Wolsey Park development site in Rayleigh, marking the first SEND school in the Rochford district. An additional 40 places will be available at the former Chetwood Primary School site in South Woodham Ferrers, bringing the total capacity to 190 pupils. We are committed to providing exceptional education and support for children with SEND, and this new school is a significant step towards achieving that goal.

Every year, the Essex Children in Care Council runs a heartwarming holiday hamper campaign for care leavers 🎁 This year, the team have packed and are delivering over 890 hampers filled with 'snuggle' jumpers, blankets, sweet treats, and festive goodies to keep our young people warm and cheerful 😊 This incredible feat was made possible through the dedication and support of many. A massive thank you to all the volunteers and partners who made this happen, especially Mitie for their generous monetary donation and delivery support across the county 🚚 A special shout out to the Children in Care and Leaving Care teams for their tireless efforts in packing and distributing the hampers, and to the Involvement Service for leading the project 👏 Essex Outdoors Danbury also played a crucial role by providing space for packing and helping with deliveries 👍 Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this holiday season brighter for our care leavers. Your kindness and generosity are truly appreciated! 😊 #PeopleMakeUs #KindnessAtChristmas

This White Ribbon Day, we're pledging our continued support to ending violence against women and girls 💜 This year’s theme, ‘It Starts With Men’, focuses on addressing attitudes and behaviors that create fear for women and girls. Last year, we achieved White Ribbon Accreditation for our commitment to ending men’s violence against women in the workplace and local communities. Since then, we’ve developed a White Ribbon Action Plan, focusing on: strategic leadership raising awareness engaging men and boys changing culture The plan has been shared with staff and will be made public soon. Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Communities, Economic Growth and Prosperity, Councillor Louise McKinlay said: “Every woman and girl in the county should live a life free of violence, fear and harassment. “We are committed to leading the way in changing these behaviours and helping to create a society where women and girls feel safe and respected.
