Evero's two Greenhouse Gas Removal projects are Deliverable 👏 At Evero, we’re committed to tackling climate change head-on. By diverting waste from landfill we’re generating clean energy that powers local homes and communities. But this is just the beginning of our journey. We’re proud to announce that both our Ince and Widnes plants have passed the deliverability assessment phase of the government’s Track 1 Expansion process. This milestone is a major step forward within the Track 1 expansion process, positioning us to collaborate closely with the UK government on Greenhouse Gas Removals. Our BECCS projects can play a critical role in the UK’s Net Zero ambitions, through our mission to restore balance. Simon Hicks, CEO of Evero, said “We’re delighted that the UK government has recognised the quality of our CCS projects. They are of long-term environmental importance to the UK’s commitment to meeting our Net Zero targets." “We also welcome the government’s recent announcement of a £22bn investment into CCS, including the Hynet cluster.” To read the full press release about the deliverability assessment click here 👉 http://bit.ly/3Nf3KLY

We’ve introduced an innovative programme at our Ince Biopower plant to continue landfill reduction. 💡 This programme transforms biomass dust, which may otherwise be sent to landfill, into high-density briquettes. Once the biomass dust is collected by the ventilation and extraction systems in our plants, the dust is compressed into these briquettes, which are then sent back into the gasifier as a fuel.🔥 This process enables them to continue contributing to the generation of renewable electricity, reflecting our commitment to sustainability, ensuring that waste is minimised.

Yesterday marked the International Day of Clean Energy - a global call to action to minimise our carbon footprint by embracing renewable energy and advancing reliable energy solutions. This day highlights the urgent need to rethink how we power our world. We can champion circular approaches like sustainably sourced waste biomass - providing locally sourced energy that drives us toward a greener future. By incorporating carbon capture technology, we’re taking it a step further, enabling carbon-negative energy solutions that reduce emissions and actively remove CO₂ from the atmosphere, accelerating the path to net zero. ♻️💡

Did you know not all waste wood is the same? At Evero, we’re selective about the waste wood we use. We exclusively source local grade C waste wood - material that’s unsuitable for recycling due to chemical treatment or contamination. Instead of letting it end up in landfills, we transform this otherwise unusable wood into reliable, sustainable electricity, supporting a cleaner and more circular energy future⚡

News like this reminds us that we need bold action to reverse the rise in global temperatures. Greenhouse Gas Removals (GGRs) are a crucial part of that solution. At Evero, our projects at Ince and Mersey could become the UK’s first GGR plants, tackling the legacy of emissions by removing CO₂ from the atmosphere. This is how we can begin to repair the damage and build a more sustainable future for everyone. 🌍

Did you know? Evero's Ince and Widnes BECCS projects in the North West could contribute up to 10% of the Government’s 2030 Greenhouse Gas Removal targets! Our projects champion sustainability through circularity - diverting locally sourced waste wood from landfills and powering homes to support the UK in a cleaner, greener future 🌍♻️

Implementing the Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Mandate marks a significant milestone in the UK’s efforts to decarbonise. Carbon Capture, Utilisation, and Storage (CCUS) is crucial in supporting SAF production pathways by supplying the CO₂ essential for creating sustainable fuels. Advancing SAF production through CCUS is pivotal for achieving Net Zero and accelerating the energy transition ✈️
📢 The CCSA welcomes the UK Government's introduction of the Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Mandate, a major step in decarbonising aviation in the UK. 🔹 Starting today, flights departing from the UK must include 2% SAF, increasing to 10% by 2030 and 22% by 2040. SAF significantly reduces emissions, producing 70% less CO₂ than traditional jet fuel. 🔹 Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) is an important enabler of certain SAF production pathways, providing the CO₂ needed to produce sustainable fuels. ✈️ With domestic and international aviation responsible for around 8% of the UK’s CO₂ equivalent emissions, advancing SAF production with CCUS is vital to achieving net zero and driving the energy transition. 🔹 The CCSA looks forward to the development of a revenue certainty mechanism to drive investment in UK SAF production, ensuring that supply can meet the demand driven by the Mandate. 🔎 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/egUY9Dd7 #CCUS | #CarbonCapture | #NetZero | #SAF | #SustainableAviationFuel
