About us
Everyone’s Invited’s mission is to expose and eradicate rape culture with empathy, compassion, and understanding. We are a safe place for all survivors, regardless of identified gender or orientation to share their stories completely anonymously. Conversations with friends and personal experience throughout school and university revealed to founder Soma Sara how widespread the issue is and she began sharing her experiences of rape culture on Instagram. In light of the overwhelming response from those that resonated with her story, Soma founded Everyone’s Invited in June 2020 (it later gained charitable status in 2022). Through the publication of submissions, we have sparked a conversation about rape culture with millions of people.

Today we remember the 95 women who died due to femicide this year. Femicide is the most extreme and fatal result of a society that normalises violence against women, perpetuated by rape culture, victim-blaming, misogyny, and systemic inaction. We must dismantle the attitudes and structures that excuse harm, hold perpetrators accountable, and prioritise safety. Change begins when we speak out, demand justice, and refuse to accept a culture where women’s lives are devalued. Their lives mattered, and their stories deserve to be heard. 💙

🎄 Keeping Children Safe in the Digital Age this Christmas 🎄 This Christmas season, it’s crucial to empower our children with the skills they need to navigate the digital landscape safely. We recently featured in Education Choices Magazine where we discussed the importance of teaching critical analysis and keeping children safe online. The article emphasises ways in which we can help our children make informed decisions and directly challenge harmful and misogynistic rhetoric they may come across while online. Teaching them to ask important questions like: ❓ Who produced the content I'm watching? ❓ Why was it created? ❓ What message does it promote? These questions help instill healthy skepticism, encouraging children to critically assess the content they consume. By fostering this sense of inquiry, we can help them identify and resist harmful narratives, ensuring they can engage with the digital world safely and thoughtfully. A huge thank you to Education Choices Magazine for featuring our team and supporting this important conversation. 🎁🌟 #DigitalSafety #CriticalThinking #DigitalLiteracy #OnlineSafety #Empowerment #HealthySkepticism #ChildSafety #Christmas #Everyone'sInvited #EducationChoicesMagazine https://lnkd.in/ewwQqCZf

Teaching Critical Analysis Keeping children safe this Christmas season As the Christmas holidays approach, children will spend more time both at home and online. While the festive season brings excitement and joy, it also tends to increase exposure to digital content, from TV programmes and films to the latest social media trends. Some of this content may be harmful or misleading, meaning it is crucial that parents nurture their children’s critical thinking skills. 🌟 Everyone's Invited: Our Own Person of the Year Nominations 🌟 Today, Time Magazine announced Donald Trump as their Person of the Year. At Everyone's Invited, we believe it’s essential to elevate those whose actions have challenged rape culture rather than those who have directly perpetuated it. The Everyone's Invited Person of the Year nominations showcase individuals who have empowered survivors, and sparked meaningful change. Here are our Person of the Year nominations: 🏆 Winner: Gisele Pelicot Gisele’s decision to waive her anonymity during one of the most high-profile, shocking rape cases of our time has made a huge impact globally. We admire her bravery immensely. 📝 Other nominations: Cassie Ventura: For her remarkable courage in speaking out against domestic violence and advocating for survivors of sexual abuse, particularly those connected to her perpetrator P Diddy. Simone Biles: For her candid discussion of the trauma she endured at the hands of Larry Nassar, raising awareness around PTSD and inspiring 60% of American women to begin to prioritise their mental well-being. Nikita Hand: For her extraordinary courage in standing up against Conor McGregor and sparking critical conversations about Ireland’s legal systems and support systems for survivors. Barrett Pall & Abercrombie & Fitch Survivors: For their bravery in exposing the abuse, exploitation, and objectification in the fashion industry, particularly the challenges male survivors face. Survivors of Mohamed Al-Fayed: For their courage in coming forward to expose decades of abuse, sparking vital conversations about power, control, and justice. Shiori Ito: For her impactful documentary Black Box Diaries, which has helped change Japan’s legal system and provided a voice for countless survivors. Jodie Comer & Suzie Miller: For their groundbreaking work in Prima Facie, reshaping conversations around consent, justice, and empowering survivors, with judges in Northern Ireland now required to watch the play. These nominees represent the strength and courage needed to dismantle rape culture and support survivors. Their dedication to justice and empowerment is something we must all celebrate. 💫 Who would you nominate for Person of the Year in the fight against rape culture? #PersonOfTheYear #RapeCulture #Justice #Survivors #ChangeMakers #Empowerment #EveryoneIsInvited

On Friday, the Everyone's Invited team had the privilege of attending the High Commission of Canada's screening of the documentary Backlash: Misogyny in the Digital Age directed by Léa Clermont-Dion and Guylaine Maroist. The film was accompanied by a brilliant discussion, led by Lucy Purdon and hosted by Simon Anderson The event was a testament to the strength of collective voices - it was fantastic to hear so many thought provoking contributions shared throughout the session. While the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence often brings heavy emotions, our the team left feeling empowered and uplifted by the work being done within the sector. Thank you to everyone who make this event so wonderful! 🌟
