  • Following on from our CEO, Tom Sime’s interview with The Herald Scotland, talking about our success in bringing connectivity to the main travel hubs in UK, we’re pleased to share more about our project with Aberdeen International Airport, now it is complete. The enabling of 5G at the airport, which is amongst Scotland’s top three busiest travel hubs, welcoming 2.4million passengers last year, will see significant advantage for passengers, staff and airline partners, setting the North East airport on the road to becoming a ‘smart airport’ and helping to establish its position as a pioneer in technological advancement. The implementation of next generation in-building technology will boost connection and download speeds across the airport. In the next few months, the airport will see the main carriers join the installation which smart-enables the building to support everything from intelligent automation to energy efficiency and enhanced security. Aberdeen International Airport is not only the gateway for the North East of Scotland to Europe and beyond, but the main artery to Scotland’s oil and gas network in the North Sea, which is why ensuring it is amongst the most connected travel hubs in the country is incredibly important. More and more airports are looking to improve connectivity as the benefits of these systems for the sector become more apparent. It’s not just about network and internet connections in the terminals, but also supporting the smooth running of the complex technology required for the entire passenger journey.
