We had a guest recently ask us what our company name meant. If you’re interested in wood and joinery, you will probably know that a piece of wood has surfaces, and that it’s necessary to inspect the timber and select the best Face and Edge.  Then we surface plane both the Face and Edge and mark it as such, so that the most attractive grain within the wood are displayed. In joinery, precision is everything so marking the Face and Edge means that we prevent inaccuracies creeping in later.   So, Face Edge is highly significant and represents the accuracy of our work, and also the beauty contained within this lovely natural resource.   Here, one of our senior craftsmen and Site Manager, Tim, demonstrates machining the Face & Edge and marking them with those special marks.

We have always loved working with National Trust - such stunning places so carefully looked after. Here's an example of the bespoke furniture we made for the Studland NT shop using rough sawn oak and Farrow & Ball colours to emphasis the natural colours around the estate.
