Falkirk Council
Government Administration
We're the local authority for the Falkirk area.
About us
Falkirk Council is one of 32 unitary authority council areas of Scotland. It was formed on 1 April 1996 from the exact boundaries of Falkirk District Council by way of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1994. Prior to 1975 the majority of the Falkirk Council area was part of the county of Stirlingshire. Bo'ness and Blackness were part of the former county of West Lothian. The Falkirk Council area borders with North Lanarkshire, Stirling and West Lothian, and, across the Firth of Forth to the northeast, Clackmannanshire and Fife.

🎄A £1000 donation from David Morton Demolition has helped Falkirk Delivers light up the High Street with festive projections. The donation, tied to the firm's work demolishing Callendar Square Shopping Centre to make way for the new town hall, highlights how community benefit built into our contracts can support local initiatives. 🎅✨ Find out more 👉 https://lnkd.in/eKa_EVyF

🌧️❄️ Recent wet weather and snow have put new drainage at Victoria Primary School to the test - and it’s made a huge difference! Thanks to Balfour Beatty plc's community benefit work, 40 meters of drainage has been installed, solving a waterlogging issue in the playground. No more muddy shoes or wet socks for pupils! 🙌 📖 https://lnkd.in/eW5S7sa6 The community benefit work is tied to the A9/A904 Westfield Improvement Project, delivering benefits for the local community beyond construction. 🎉Forty pupils from six local high schools became the first in Scotland to take on Balfour Beatty plc's Big Design Challenge. Over seven weeks, they tackled real-world problems like budgets, timelines, and environmental issues while designing a road. With a £350,000 capital investment, we’re installing a cutting-edge underground culvert system to tackle surface water flooding in Dunmore Village. Over the years, the village has experienced repeated flooding incidents that have affected both the A905 (pictured earlier this year) and people’s homes. The new culvert is designed to significantly improve drainage capacity and provide better futureproofing against the effects of climate change. 🌍 https://lnkd.in/edajnE_J #johnmcgeadyltd #floodalleviation #sustainability #climateresilience

The sale of the former town hall and Municipal Buildings site has been approved by councillors. The sale is expected to generate a capital receipt of £6.2 million. Around £6 million of this will be directed towards funding the ongoing replacement town hall project at the east end of Falkirk High Street. Additionally, £200,000 will be allocated to Falkirk’s Common Good Fund, supporting local initiatives in the future.
