CEO & Podcaster at Eastern Promise (East Anglia) CIC | MD of Priors Croft Services | Speaker, Chair/Moderator and Stand-up Comedian, not simultaneously | 🎵 Wealth and fame, he's ignored; ACTION is his reward! 🕷🕸
Housing is a always a difficult topic and the #eastofengland’s rural districts in easy reach of #Cambridge face a challenge in leveraging that proximity alongside their duty to existing residents. That’s the vexed question Eastern Promise tackled today as we continued our series of panels exploring how the Brecks can support the growth of #Cambridge, at the Norwich offices of Mills & Reeve. I was joined by (L2R) Stephen Scowen and series regular Cllr Sarah Suggitt of Breckland Council, Matt Wood of Feilden+Mawson, Cllr Carla Barreto of Thetford Town Council, Esmee Wilcox, FRSA of Socially Adept and our other series regular Anna Aldous of hosts Mills & Reeve. I found some of my rather blithe assumptions over growth and delivery challenged - and I’m really pleased they were - as we discussed creating community and bringing existing residents along with you. Lots of great ideas too, many of which I’ll be taking forward. Carla gave us her perspective on her place (important as it’s way past time I had a Thetford voice on the show); Esmee shared the secret sauce of successful engagement (spoilers! 🚨 it’s listening); Sarah and Stephen brought multiple, vital views from a local planning authority; Matt shared the importance of #masterplanning and Anna shared her wide expertise and passion for community creation. 📣These are all issues we will be exploring further in the Eastern Promise New Towns sandpit in June next year… Look out for this mammoth panel in the new year! Our Cambridge team ventured out for their second sketch club this week! After sketching around the Botanical Gardens last month, chillier weather moved this session indoors by the beautiful Cambridge Railway Station with hot drinks in hand. The nearly 180-year-old station provided the perfect backdrop to the café setting and produced some thoughtful and well-framed sketches. #sketchclub #architecturalsketches #cambridgearchitecture #monthly #sketching
