Last Friday, the Fiera Real Estate UK team spent the day volunteering with GreenTheUK and the London Wildlife Trust, at Gutteridge Wood and Meadows - an ancient oak and hazel coppice woodland and adjacent associated wildflower meadows in North Hillingdon. The site provides a year-long haven for birds and wildflowers, however ancient woodlands and wildflower meadows require active management to maintain their health and resilience, and to protect the habitats for the local wildlife. The Fiera team spent the day clearing the wildflower meadows of encroaching scrub and brambles, whilst maintaining pockets of cover for ground nesting birds. When Spring arrives next year, this work will help ensure that the wildflowers have the best chance of flourishing, whilst also enriching the biodiversity of the site and providing high quality seed mixes for future seasons.

Jessica Pilz, Head of Sustainable Investing, Private Markets recently attended an in-depth discussion with EG and Clyde & Co to unravel the good, the bad and the ugly of green leases. Jess believes that a lot of the market is already adopting green lease clauses in a standard lease, but that is not the problem – the concern is how to get the rest of the market to follow suite. “At the end of the day, this has got nothing to do with “sustainability”. It’s just about changing perception, repositioning, and getting us all to the same place. This just has to be best practice.” Read article here: https://lnkd.in/eujD6XaX
