Ensuring an individual has the correct skills, knowledge and experience to #inspect #firedoors is essential, as they keep us safe in the buildings we visit or occupy. All FDIS approved inspectors operating under the Competent Person Certification Scheme, have to demonstrate they have all 3 as part of their approval process as a minimum. About us
The Fire Door Inspection Scheme (FDIS) aims to transform people's knowledge about how and why fire doors work and the potential dangers of getting it wrong. The FDIS provides all individuals with the opportunity to broaden their knowledge of fire door safety, third party certification and the principles of fire door inspections via our educational programme. All individuals must attend an independent test centre and sit an exam to verify their learning. Following the successful completion of the educational programme an individual can continue their professional development by applying to become an approved FDIS inspector under the FDIS Competent Person Certification Scheme. Once a individual has achieved approval status for fire door inspections, they are added to the FDIS register of approved Fire Door Inspectors, so you can be confident that you always have access to an approved FDIS Inspector.

Really proud to be the opening webinar for their national Fire Door Safety Week Campaign - talking about #firedoorinsepections number of attendees was incredible. #firedoorsafety
A great opening presentation from the Fire Door Inspection Scheme (FDIS) in our series of free webinars for Fire Door Safety Week. Andrew Sayer , Lead Assessor at FDIS shared valuable insight regarding the most common issues surrounding fire doors as well as some guidance to support the ‘Responsible Person’ of a building. If you are the Responsible Person, here are some basics checks you could be undertaking on a regular basis to help keep building occupants and users safe: ❓ Does the fire door open and close fully? ❓ Is there any damage to the door leaf or frame? ❓ Is any glazing broken or damaged? ❓ Are the intumescent seals missing or damaged? ❓ Is all the installed ironmongery working as intended? ❓ Are escape routes clear and accessible? Today the Minister for Building Safety and Homelessness issued a statement regarding revoking the previously stated deadline of 30 June 2025 the recognition of CE marking in Great Britain & the withdrawal of the National fire testing standards from Approved Document B for both reaction to fire, with a transition period of six months, and fire resistance with transition period of five years. The 2029 amendment document continues to permit the use of assessments of fire resistance for internal doorsets until such time as a relevant harmonised product standard is published. New publications outlining the relevant amendments to Approved Document B for 2025, 2026 and 2029 have been posted on the Gov.UK website. Full statement here 👇 https://lnkd.in/ey_nC74d
