This morning, I visited the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in my role as Chair and Founder of the Hearts & Minds Foundation (H&MF), a charity established in 2024 to help children and young adults with congenital heart disease. I was pleased to deliver the first-ever Heart Month Care Box. Meeting children with heart conditions and their families was humbling and rewarding. It reinforced just how important small gestures of kindness can be. Since the start of this year, in preparation for February’s National Heart Month, I’ve been working with the founders of six incredible brands from the BUY WOMEN BUILT community to curate a thoughtful collection of their iconic products. Alongside Urban Apothecary London fragranced products, these were beautifully presented in one of our stylish gift boxes. We carefully chose each item to provide both instant comfort and lasting practicality. Flawsome! Drinks | B Corp™! and Piccolo (Organic Baby & Toddler Food) delicious, nutritious snacks, essentials such as the Little Soap Company - BCorp™ baby & child bar, plus my fragrances, offered pampering treats. For bedtime, what could be more soothing than a xigxag audio book and a cuddle with JOMANDA LIMITED’s soft, snuggly red lobster, while parents keep track of important notes in a MUM'S OFFICE LTD diary. I am pleased to share that the response was unanimous. Everyone was surprised and delighted by the experience in a box, reminding me of how thoughtful collaborations can make a difference. Just like we transform wonky fruit into something wonderful, women have the power to reshape industries, break barriers, and build something better—together. I was just 17 when I decided to pitch my idea to the NatWest Accelerator. I got into the program, stood up for my first-ever 60-second pitch, and felt absolutely terrified. I wasn’t confident, but I pushed past my comfort zone every time—and that changed everything. Stepping into the unknown led me to incredible entrepreneurs, mentors, and role models, all of whom helped get our business off the ground. Just as things were taking off, life threw me another challenge—I found out I was pregnant. Not with one baby, but twins.. At the time, I was a second-year student at the University of South Wales, balancing studies with a growing business that was gaining traction across independent stores in Wales. It's crazy how since joining a B Corp organisation, something I had no idea even existed before joining x+why , they're now popping up so often in daily life! Recently I spotted Flawsome! Drinks | B Corp™ 's orange juice in my local train station and had to give it a go. It was delicious and I could easily down a family sized carton (if they existed) in about 30 seconds flat. Then, on Valentines Day, I decided to hold a competition for our members to win a prize and remembered I'd spotted a L’OCCITANE Group store just round the corner from us. The products smelt divine and our winner was absolutely buzzin' to be able to give it to his partner. Flawsome! was the first to introduce paper wrappers in the kids' carton category—because what’s the point of a paper straw if it’s wrapped in plastic? 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐝𝐞, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠.
