With its intense pink hues and pristine white veining and its glossy finish, Splendido quartzite is truly the centerpiece of this kitchen, featured in the worktops, in the sink, and in the splashback . The material was picked by the client herself upon visiting a stone yard in Verona with us: a slab from block no. 8715, with its unrepeatable natural features. Framing the existing wooden fireplace, the wall composition in the living area features ceramic wall cladding, aluminium floating shelves painted in metallic bronze, and a suspended ceramic bench with mitred 45 degree angles for a solid, three-dimensional touch. Taj Mahal quartzite is a very strong and durable natural stone with a beautiful veining, further highlighted by the natural light that graces this beautiful space. This amazing material was our choice for the worktops and kitchen island. Oak wood is gifted with a subtle kind of warmth that adds a cosy touch even to the most minimal design. Taking a cue from the oak timber used on the floating stairs and vertical slatted wall cladding in the hallway, we picked natural oak with a vertical grain for the full height cupboards. As these cupboard doors are true full height, the design could easily be extended down the length of the main corridor in the house to meet the entrance hallway.
