Give your patients the Goldilocks treatment by prescribing the AproDerm® Emollient Starter Pack and help them find the emollient that is just right. As you know, the right emollient is the one the patient chooses to use, which is why we developed our starter pack. As explained by Daljit Birdi, our AproDerm® Emollient Starter Pack is drug tariff listed and provides the patient with all four of our emollients which vary in the amount of hydration they offer, their consistency and the ingredients they contain, so there is something for everyone. It is the most efficient way for your patients to choose the emollient that works best for them, aiding compliance and adherence. Prescribe today to help your patients take control of their skin. #AproDermStarterPack #PatientChoice

The AproDerm® Emollient Starter Pack contains four types of emollients for eczema, psoriasis, ichthyosis, and other dry skin conditions, there vary in the amount of hydration they offer, their consistency and the ingredients they contain, letting patients choose the emollient that’s best for their skin. That’s why it’s the quickest way to prescribe the right emollient for your patients. To help support you and your patients we have developed the mySkinHealth App, this app allows your patients to record their POEM and EASI scores and share them with you so that you can see the complete picture of their eczema so allowing you to advise the right treatment.

Studies have shown that over the last 40 years, there has been a 43% reduction in dermatology teaching time in medical schools. This, combined with the lack of teaching on skin of colour and lack of diversity in dermatology, has resulted in people of colour not getting the diagnosis and treatment they need. Timely recognition, diagnosis and management is crucial for improving patient outcomes, so take a look at our guide to improve your confidence in diagnosing dermatological conditions in skin of colour. Hint: Save this guide so you have it to refer back to at a later date. #SkinOfColour #Dermatology #MedicalSchool #MedEd

Read this to find out which one we think you should be using and why… But first, why is the categorisation of skin colour important in a clinical setting? Healthcare professionals make decisions based on skin colour numerous times a day. During physical assessments, healthcare professionals evaluate the colour of the patient’s skin as a significant measure of overall health status. Without an objective grading system, healthcare research, and therefore healthcare practices, are not well informed on the signs and symptoms of different conditions across the entire population, thus leading to healthcare disparities. So, what gradation should we be using? The most popular system is The Fitzpatrick Scale, which is widely recognised and used, although it does have its flaws. This is because it was originally developed to establish safe parameters for UV treatment of psoriasis, not as a general grading system for skin colour. There is also concern that this scale doesn’t represent the variety of human skin colours that exist. In 2022, a new objective scale was developed - the Eumelanin Human Skin Colour Scale (EHSCS). Although this scale offers a far more objective measure, a reflectance instrument is required to use this scale currently. According to the British Association of Dermatology, the group responsible for developing the EHSCS are working to develop a matching chart so this scale can be used in clinical practice. In short, at the moment, there doesn’t appear to be a ‘perfect’ gradation, however, watch this space and be ready to learn and adapt when new systems are developed. #Dermatology #SkinOfColour #DermEd #MedEd
