  • 🚨 We think its time to rename 𝘊. 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘭𝘦🚨 Let us explain:  🦠Clostridium is of course the genus name, referring to the shape of the bacteria which resembles a spindle.   The species name, difficile, which means "difficult" in Latin.  It was given this name because the bacteria was though to be difficult to grow in a laboratory setting But here's the thing, it doesn't have to be hard to grow!  Forge Editing's capabilities to work in difficult-to-engineer strains is unlocking new possibilities in gene editing, making it faster, more precise, and more efficient than ever before.   Which is why we think perhaps it's time to rename 𝘊. 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘭𝘦 as 𝘊. 𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘭𝘦. Our technology allows for rapid and targeted modifications to the DNA of various organisms, opening up exciting opportunities for developing innovative solutions in fields like biopharmaceuticals, agriculture, and industrial biotechnology which previously might have been considered too difficile.
