  • "In a hybrid work environment, one of the things that leaders need to do is assess and then modify. And we don't like that." Leaders face tough, often unpopular decisions every day—decisions with far-reaching consequences. You take the leap, implement the change, and then comes the big question: Did it work? Sometimes, you just need to go on a 'Change Hunt'. In this clip of our 'Predictability in the Face of Change' episode on The Nature of Leadership, Curtis Bateman - Senior Vice President of International at FranklinCovey and co-author of 'Change: How to Turn Uncertainty into Opportunity'- reveals one of his go-to tools for engaging people through change. • We’re falling behind. Strategic goals rely on the unwavering engagement of those closest to the work, yet Gallup latest research shows that in the UK, only 10% of workers are actively engaged – the lowest globally. In a co-located working world, leaders need to be even more intentional about creating the right conditions for high engagement. Luckily, the most powerful principles of human motivation are timeless, and apply in any setting: in-person, remote or hybrid. Then why are highly engaged teams so rare? Here are 6 traps well - meaning leaders often fall into and high-performance organisations need to avoid: 🎯 The Concept Trap 📋 The Complexity Trap 🥇 The Futility Trap ⏰ The Urgency Trap ➡️ The Planning Trap ⁉️ The Ambiguity Trap Download the full guide, 6 Traps to Avoid When Creating an Engaged Virtual Team, to learn more about the practical ways you can maintain motivation and momentum in any circumstance. https://lnkd.in/enZ6ARkr #Engagement #WorkplaceMotivation #Execution

Over five years ago, I had the opportunity to attend a 2 day workshop on the FranklinCovey UK & Ireland - 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, and it really did change my perspective. I can still picture that lively room and meeting so many amazing people! All of us excited and proudly holding our certificates✨️ What Stuck with Me 🔹 Put First Things First: The urgent-important matrix has been a lifesaver. It helped me cut through the noise of daily tasks and focus on what really matters. 🔹 Think Win-Win: This principle shifted how I interact with others. Aiming for mutual benefits in conversations has led to stronger relationships and better outcomes. 🔹 Synergize: I learned that different viewpoints are actually a strength. The variety of ideas we shared during the workshop showed me how much better we can do when we collaborate. The Impact These lessons aren’t just concepts; they’ve become part of my daily routine. Whether I'm setting goals or leading my team, these habits have really shaped how I face challenges. I'm so incredibly greatful to Jim Fell for making this experience happen, and to Francis Owu for being such an amazing teacher. Your kindness and support meant the world to me. Looking back at that photo always brings a smile. The energy we shared still resonates today. Even after five years, these lessons continue to guide me, proving that some teachings stick with us for life. Sue Mabbott, I'll never forget marching around Matalan with a pepa pig lunchbox looking for green underpants. It's amazing what you remember; always makes me smile 💕 Here’s to growth, learning, and the wonderful people who help us along the way! 🌱 #PersonalDevelopment #Leadership #7Habits #ProfessionalGrowth #ContinuousLearning
