❄️Are you a winter walk person?... Don’t forget about our Day in Nature at the Better Business Summit! At BBS25, not only do we have two incredible Conference days lined up (schedule is now live btw), but also we have our much loved Day in Nature happening again on the Friday 17th January too with Freshwalks! This is to allow attendees to reflect on their learnings from the past few days, to recharge and reconnect with the natural world, as well as forge connections with others through a spot of netwalking! This time we have opted for one, more accessible option for Friday that will allow attendees of any ability the opportunity to join us on our Freshwalks! What’s the plan? We’re delighted to say we’ll be exploring a fantastic new environmental resource: the GM Ringway walking trail - a route designed to be accessed by public transport, connecting residents and visitors with the city-region's natural landscapes in a low-impact way. The walk will be led by Dr Andrew Read, who devised and developed the project and we will be tackling Stage 1 of the GM Ringway. We’ll be using towpaths, walkways, parkland and the Trans Pennine Trail to trace an almost totally traffic-free and tranquil route from the city centre to the lush Mersey Valley. You can see all the details on the site (link in the comments below), but we’ll be walking close to 11km along a flat, easy route (more info on grading here) for a few hours before finishing at a cosy winter pub for a hot vegan chilli buffet lunch, all included in the price! Last Friday, I joined the Freshwalks networking group for a 23km circular walk around the beautiful Peak District 🌳. It was a great opportunity to connect with others in a relaxed setting while enjoying some incredible scenery. The walk was a fantastic way to round off the year, combining fresh air and good conversations. Thanks to everyone who took part for making it such a good day. Perfect way to end the year. With all workshops and coaching sessions complete, I was free to hit the hills. What an exhilarating way to do it. The last Freshwalks of the year was the biggie. 22.6km and nearly 1000m of climbing. Thankfully the weather didn't close in until the pub was nearly in sight. Thanks to everyone for creating a great atmosphere, thanks to Julie Pelzer-Vaughan (she/her) and David Alison for rescuing us from Northern Rail and to Tamsin Caine for providing flapjack despite not being able to attend! Looking back at 2024 - thank you to everyone who was part of it

Three Shires Adventure - Friday 29 November The penultimate Freshwalks #netwalking classic hike of 2024 a couple of weeks ago, traversing Cheshire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire. We yomped 20km+ from Macclesfield Forest to the outskirts of Leek via Shutlingsloe, Three Shires Head, Lud's Church & The Roaches. A vintage linear hiking route which packs plenty in and another exceptional group of business people there to share the journey. Final event of 2024 takes place in Edale this Friday.
