What a privilege to present to students at Suffolk New College Rural Campus this afternoon. Presenting a workshop on employability skills - something different but fun! What are employability skills? A great discussion with the students today. I hope the students have taken something away from the the workshop today, very engaging and some tricky questions asked 😁 I love the career journey I’ve had so far and if my ‘story’ and view on employability skills can help encourage and support just one young person then that’s good enough for me. The workplace can be a daunting place and as employers - even though we have businesses to run - we should be open minded to the talent that is out there and always consider an open door for interns, apprenticeships and work experience placements. This included securing sponsorship for the event, sourcing a panel of industry experts, designing event collateral and running a successful event launch campaign which led to the event selling out within 28 hours! Wednesday marked the first-ever Construction Anglia Event 😧 As you may know, Friel launched Construction Anglia to connect people across the construction industry in Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex, and Cambridgeshire. Having this platform allows us to share all of the latest construction news, celebrate business successes, promote industry events, and create networking opportunities. Up until this week, Construction Anglia focused on promoting industry news. But on Wednesday, we hosted our first-ever event – the Women in Construction Lunch at West Suffolk College. This event brought together some of the amazing women who are shaping the future of the industry. It was fantastic to have students from the college join us, offering them the chance to meet and learn from these inspirational women. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and we couldn’t be happier with how the event went.
