About us

The overarching purpose of GCDA is to create and support sustainable communities, with the capacity to meet their health needs, plan their economic development and achieve their educational and training aspirations. Objectives It will aim to fulfil this purpose by means of the following objectives: 1. To encourage local communities to develop enterprises which meet economic and social needs and are co-operatively managed. 2. To develop projects which improve the physical and social environment in which communities live. 3. To provide training courses which promote healthy eating, sustainable catering, food growing and balanced diets. 4. To promote healthy living styles, so that the physical and mental well-being of people is improved. 5. To create community hubs – based on cafes, farms, allotments, market places and training centres – which represent community-based and co-operative responses to community needs, thereby strengthening the cohesiveness of communities.
