About us

Avye is a 17-year-old student and passionate about STEM. In 2018, Avye, already a coder, maker, and workshop leader came up with the idea of organising coding events for girls, after repeatedly observing that most attendees at her workshops were boys. She was determined to encourage more girls to give STEM a go. As a result, she decided to set up ‘Girls Into Coding’, a series of events targeting girls. Girls into Coding provides learning opportunities for girls between the ages of 10 and 14. We’ve created workshops and education events to immerse young people in a range of STEM activities. We are driven to engage at least 1000 girls every year with unique hands-on workshops in physical computing, coding, robotics, 3D design & 3D printing, alongside inspiring talks from women and girls doing cool stuff in STEM. Girls into Coding is a Community Interest Company (CIC) and is regulated by the CIC regulator. We are a rare mother and daughter led Social Enterprise. Since July 2018, seven hugely successful events have been delivered. These events and Avye’s passion for tech provided the inspiration to launch Girls into Coding as a Community Interest Company (CIC). We are driven to create opportunities to engage girls to consider STEM education and careers through hands-on workshops and events. We are fully committed to delivering our Girls Into Coding’s objectives. We have been committed to doing this both face to face and virtually.
