Feedback from the online course:

Feedback from the online training course for Girls on Board: "I have really enjoyed this course and am partly sad for it to be over! It has been very interesting to spend time in essence relearning how girls think when it comes to friendship issues. Obviously, I remember what it was like as a teenage girl but even then, I understood from adults that our issues were "silly" and annoying to adults." "I have had very positive experience that I have had with the Girls on Board training. I feel like I have a clear vision for implementation and am starting to put a plan together going forward. I have been engaging with my colleagues in conversations about the training and have received lots of support. The staff seem to be motivated by what I have mentioned in general discussions. It has been amazing to reflect on how girls behave, the groups sizes in particular has been eye-opening! I have two girls of my own and it has already helped by adjust the way I communicate with them at home. I have been reading 'Why Girls Fall Out' and it has been brilliant. I highly recommend! New face-to-face training event date announced: South-west London. Weston Green School February 13th 10:am to 3:30 pm Book here: https://lnkd.in/eUF4mY-B
Sums it up nicely: "The Girls on Board training has been exceptional, providing an invaluable tool for managing relationships among girls in school. The principle of 'less is more' is central to the training, emphasising the importance of giving girls the chance to navigate and resolve issues independently—a crucial life skill." https://lnkd.in/eR5J9Qqu
Feedback from the online training course: "A fantastically thorough and engaging training course. It has helped me see pupils' behaviours from a different point of view and provided a variety of tools with which to support and facilitate the change in pupils behaviour moving forward into the future without being 'too reactive.' " The online training for Girls on Board gets superb reactions from all those that graduate. Online training need not be a chore and has several advantages over face-to-face. You get the chance to revisit materials and reflect on your learning at your own pace. You can take initial ideas into school and observe behaviour before triangulating them with the insights contained in the training. The course is easy to follow, varied, enlightening and, for many, a game changer both as teachers and as parents of girls. https://lnkd.in/eR5J9Qqu
Finding ways to support the partnership between schools and parents:

As I travel around training teachers in the Girls on Board approach I continue my quest to bring the poor state of school / parent relations into the public discourse. Every school I visit and every teacher I talk to has the same story: there is an imbalance of power between parents and teachers which is leading to widespread bullying. It soaks up enormous amounts of time and emotional bandwidth and it needs to stop. Schools need to include parents in their behaviour and anti-bullying policies and be prepared to apply sanctions to those that refuse to comply. This template, in relation to girls in particular, is gaining traction: Dear Mr and Mrs Smith, it has come to the school's attention that your daughter has recently been involved in exchanges of messages and posts on social media platforms which have resulted in conflict arising amongst the girls in her year group. This email does not seek to apportion blame in any way but we wish to point out that these messages and posts were sent in the evenings and during the weekends on devices owned by you, on an internet service which you pay for and while your daughter was under your supervision. We would be grateful if you could monitor and regulate your daughter's use of social media platforms more robustly to avoid further conflict arising in the future. Yours The Headteacher

Recent feedback on the Girls on Board Net approach: "The Girls on Board training has been a real eye-opener for me. It’s all about giving girls the tools to handle their own friendship issues, instead of us stepping in to fix things. This approach really helps reduce drama and gives girls the confidence to manage their relationships. I especially liked how it encourages parents to take a step back and just listen. Often, parents want to fix things quickly, but this training shows that by simply being supportive and not overreacting, parents can help their daughters become more resilient. For anyone doing this course, I’d say go in with an open mind. It really shifts how you think about handling friendship problems, and the strategies you learn are not only practical but also really empower both the girls and the parents. It’s a great approach to bring into any school setting!" https://lnkd.in/eJEVrrJY
