There is a News Article in the link in the comment below, but this post is to notify you that there have been significant alterations to the mobile performance of the CareersInGlass website. In the article, there is also instruction on how to add an icon to your mobile phone to access the website from which it will work like any other App on your phone. Making yourself accessible to the Glass Industry Worldwide is as easy as 1, 2, 3 now (or let's say 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.... because there are only six main things that Employers will be looking for to give you a job the same or higher than your current level. Those six things are: 1. Your country of residence 2. The glass industry you are currently in 3. The department you work in 4. Your current role level 5. Your educational level, and 6. Your current employment status. That's it! Glass Employers can laser-target you for their current requirements based on these six things alone on CareersInGlass. If you are not registered then simply click the link in the Comments and select what best describes you from the six selection categories mentioned above. (Note that you are initially registered without showing your name or any further details... Employers don't select you because of your name. They select you for the skills and experience you have and whether you can work in their country.)

  • Interesting result shows that most of us have high expectations for AI in glass container manufacturing. Not to the extreme that it will take over, but make some significant contributions. Let's hope those involved in developing this technology make the best of its potential for us (I won't dwell on that point further).

I’ve heard various opinions as well as expressing my own recently in a popular post https://lnkd.in/e96iTJS3 I first implemented AI in glass container manufacturing back in the early 90’s using AI technology that’s still available today. In fact, my Bachelor degree project was on the very topic (I recall the lectures interest in the project since it was a very new topic back then). Back then in the 90’s, if you mentioned AI in a glass plant to someone, you generally got a strange look back. How times can change… Nowadays it seems you have to mention a product has AI just to get a sale! I’m personally very pro-AI having been one of the first people to seriously think and discuss how it could help glass container manufacturing. I think a few people even listened to me at the time. If it’s one of you reading this, I guess you know who you are 😉. Nonetheless, the poll survey here sums up how different people think about it. Maybe from what I have just said and from previous posts you know which button I’ll be pressing 😀. How will you vote?

  • Here is another article written by Glass Container Manufacturing Consulting Ltd and published in this month's issue of Glass International. This article crams in all the key technical features and history of this blank- and blow-mould infrared-camera temperature measurement system created by KONATIC and currently successfully operating in the glass container industry. It was a pleasure to write this article to keep the glass industry abreast of the details of the current developments in this field. If you or your company need any assistance writing glass technical articles, please get in touch.

  • It is great to get the opportunity to be the first to write about a new IS Machine, called ISX made by T&T in the Czech Republic. The new ISX Machine is designed to give massive productivity increases: - 100% increase in productivity where previous production in Single Gob can now be made in Double Gob. So typical SG jobs up to 180mm in diameter can be made DG. - 50% increase in productivity where Spirits or Wines made in 6 1/4" DG can now be made in 6 1/4" TG (typically up to 1.5L). - 33% increase in productivity where TG 4 1/4" jobs can now be made in Quad 4 1/4". (Particularly where a 4 1/4" job cannot fit into the Quad 95mm centres). - Also, subject to testing, the Machine is designed to be the first to make Quad 95mm jobs in 95mm Penta Gob (5 gobs instead of 4). There are plenty of other interesting features in the article, but the productivity gain potential will probably get the main interest of the market to start with. The first Machine of this type will have its functioning section on display at the glasstec – International Trade Fair in Dusseldorf, Germany, in October 2024. After display at the fair, the first ISX Machine will be delivered Glass Futures, in St Helen's, United Kingdom. Thanks to Glass International and Glass Futures, as well as Rolf Themann MBA of T&T, for their support in the writing, editing and publishing of this article. Particular thanks go to Dave Fordham for co-ordinating and organising the publishing work for the article. Here is a link to the online magazine article and attached below is a downloadable PDF copy of the article. https://lnkd.in/eS8rFG-i Enjoy reading and finding out more about the ISX Machine.

For all those of you asking me for a copy of my presentation on the past, present and future of IS Machines given at Glassman Mexico last month, please see attached. For anyone who is specifically interested getting more detail, I would suggest acquiring the glass bottle-making reference books that are cited in the presentation. The presentation given was an attempt to cram over 100 years of history into a 20-minute presentation. Hopefully, I managed to deliver the essence of the matter and will leave the details to your further study, should you be interested in going so far (I know some who will want to!). Enjoy the presentation material 😀 P.S. If you want to access the links to the videos in the presentation, you will have to download the document and access the links from there. The view below is just a preview of the pdf version of the presentation document. P.P.S. Have a great weekend!
