  • Delighted to be able to attend this years Gartner It Symposium in #barcelona. Pertinent timing when so many climate related events are happening in Spain right now. If you are in Barcelona this week and want to catch up with the GCG team drop us or Gareth Edwards a message.

Today has been a reminder of 3 things 1 - the world is way bigger than you can imagine. Attending the Gartner #gartneritsymposium in Barcelona this week. It’s the biggest anything I’ve ever been to in a work capacity. The building is enormous the stands are incredible: the queues for lunch are longer than the queues for Glastonbury… not all of these are factually correct. But you get my point. It’s enormous. 2 - the world is really tiny. I’ve been here for 3-4 hours and I’ve already bumped into 3 people I know from home without even trying. Lovely to see Andrew Hood, James Hare and Steven Flockhart and hope to catch you for coffees or a Cana later. 3 - being small doesn’t mean we can’t make a difference, GoCodeGreen | B Corp™ might be one of the smallest attendees here but doesn’t mean we can’t help shape the future. So much talk about Generative AI and its future here and not enough discussion about its cost or carbon impact. So been fantastic to talk to super receptive audiences like Rimini Street and ServiceNow. The fourth point which ruins my only ever making 3 points rule is, man these storms here in Spain are ridiculous.. and if anyone would like to disprove that they aren’t related to climate change then crack on.. even if it’s got something to do with cloud seeding… ask why they need to cloud seed in the first place… anyway rant over! Busy afternoon ahead before I make my return to this weeks home on my faithful steed donkey! Shout out to Donkey Republic for providing the sustainable transport.

  • Conference season is in full swing and so are we. Great to see Eric Zie leading the charge with techUK on shaping the net zero plan for tech firm and it looks like Jennifer Hiley networked her socks off. Delighted to meet so many like minded souls who are recognising that we can make a difference to the impact of tech.

Reflecting on techUK Tech and NetZero conference on Wednesday, where Eric Zie from our start-up GoCodeGreen | B Corp™ hosted an engaging and insightful breakout session on 'the techUK net zero plan for tech firms'. I loved the fact that the first panel was all female led discussing 'the role of digital tech in delivering net zero and growth' which was extremely interesting and the panel on 'the climate and AI challenges' was highly engaging. Overall a plethora of great sessions covering a wide spectrum of topics, some of them falling into the 'energy consumption of data centre' conundrum when there are so many other ways in which digitisation will help to accelerate the green transition, including just making what we have so much more efficient... all in all very inspiring, thanks to techUK! Met some interesting people/companies too Klaus Dalgaard Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence, Tom Moran Colt Technology Services, Mark Bjornsgaard Deep Green, Jennifer Marks Government Digital Service, Anthony Levy Circularity First, Ben Morse The University of Edinburgh

I can only apologise if I talked too much.. but it was only because it was a good discussion and I care.. A productive day at FinTech-Tables #FTClimate event yesterday, thanks to Zühlke Group, Linda Scott for bringing me along and to Ian Davey and team for a packed agenda. Some great conversations with some new faces like Matthew Waldron and Kirstie Ross and some equally good chats with some more familiar faces Kelly Williams and Julia (Jules) Salmond. Not 100% sure we stayed on topic all the time, but great to see a complete triangle, of product businesses, banks and other FS providers and the consultancies all coming together to work out how we make it all work better for people and planet.

  • It's been a decent couple of days to be fair - last night saw us attending the #SFTawards where we were a finalist in the Best Fintech Collaboration category. Alongside our lovely client Lloyds Banking Group Innovation team. We only went and won it.. Huge thanks to David McLeay and team as always for their support. Fantastic to see David also get some personal recognition as this years fintech evangelist. Some great businesses operating in Scotland who frankly all deserve recognition. Thanks also as always to Ray Bugg and DIGIT.FYI team for putting on the 'show' Nicola Anderson and FinTech Scotland for their support and encouragement. Finally delighted to see Mickael Paris receive the special recognition award. Thoroughly well deserved. We hope that the human approach both teams took to this collaboration is what swung it for us and its what it will take if all of us are going to do our bit to save this rock we like to call home. 🌍 Team GCG

  • We believe we have worked hard on this one.  I am proud to share that GoCodeGreen has been named a Cool Vendor in the 2024 Gartner® Cool Vendors™ in IT Environmental Sustainability Measuring and Reporting Report. It goes without saying that our team are enormously proud to get this recognition. A lot of thought, graft and time have gone into creating the GCG platform. Our platform connects measurement to actions, enabling everybody in an IT value chain to make an impact on the sustainability of their organisation. From CIO to developers and beyond. With a clear understanding on what the next best action should be. So, in our view, it’s safe to say we are feeling a little bit energised and a little more motivated today. We want to say thank you, to all of our friends, family and contacts who have supported our journey thus far, it’s been worth it.
