  • Earlier this week, Aziz Patel 🍉 attended the Explore Electric event hosted at The John Smith's Stadium in Huddersfield. A fleet of electric and hybrid vehicles were displayed by dealerships to test drive ranging from Toyota, BMW, Tesla and Peugeot to name a few. There were opportunities for delegates to network with the various exhibitors displaying their services from EV installation to energy suppliers, before a presentation by Patrick Wilkinson, Local System Planning Engineer for Northern Powergrid. As the morning transitioned into the afternoon, they had the pleasure of attending presentations by Fiona, Harry Fisher, Innovation Manager at Motability Foundation, Rebecca Pickavance for West Yorkshire Combined Authority, Kirsty Townend and Sophie Waite Project Manager for Transport at West Yorkshire Combined Authority. To wrap up the day, there was an interactive Q & A session and time to explore the array of electric facilities on offer. Demand for electric vehicles is on the rise and now is the time to utilise tax incentives for your business to opt to leasing a vehicle, potentially reducing output and carbon footprint.   • The 72 lives #Grenfell cannot be reversed. Following recommendations since the final Grenfell report recently published, require change to the built environment and will impact landlords of all kinds. With 58 recommendations, mainly focused on the construction industry, there is much to be done to ensure such tragedy never repeats again. The landmark report flagged severe failings right across the industry and urged organisations to give careful consideration to its criticism and lessons that they contain. The insights and reflections of the inquiry included: "The report has recommendations for change, including a new, single construction regulator and a body to oversee the implementation of inquiry report recommendations in general." "The responsibility for maintaining the relationship between the TMO and the Grenfell community fell “not on the members of that community, who had a right to be treated with respect, but on the TMO as a public body”." “It lost sight of the fact that the residents were people who depended on it for a safe and decent home and the privacy and dignity that a home provides”. "58 recommendations overall. Many are focused on the construction industry, which if enacted would bring change to the built environment and will impact social landlords, particularly those which build or manage high-rise buildings" “To prevent a future Grenfell, the government needs to step-in to develop something that is non-existent: a government with powerful leadership and ability to separate itself from the construction industry and corporate lobbying, putting people before profit” - Grenfell United. #Justice #Grenfell #GoInvestmentGroup
