Our Executive Team spent the morning today volunteering Maidstone Borough Council BC Christmas Donation Hub which is open till 12 December in The Mall Maidstone. The donation hub is collecting toys, gifts, toiletries and lots more to distribute to several local charities in Maidstone which help people over the festive period. Chief Executive Steph Goad said: "It was good to volunteer today and see the impact the donation hub is making. I was blown away by some of the generosity of local people and it reminded me the positive difference we can make when we work together to help our local communities."

Big congratulations to Alan, our latest We Care Award winner, for his incredible dedication to his community! 💚 Nominated by Golding customer Blanche, Alan goes above and beyond to keep the gardens and communal areas clean and tidy, helping vulnerable neighbours without expecting anything in return. Blanche shared, “Alan is such a caring person – always ready to help anyone! He’s one in a million!” Alan received £500 in vouchers, which he plans to use for a brand-new shed for his garden. Pictured here with his cat, Prince, Alan said, “I feel really proud to hear that so many people nominated me. I can’t believe it!” Well-deserved, Alan! #WeCareAwards #CommunityHero

We’ve launched our purple sunflower campaign as part of the national campaign ‘16 Days of Action Against Domestic Abuse 2024’ Each purple sunflower depicts every one of the 2,956 survivors of domestic abuse, which is sadly the number of Kent Police reports within the Maidstone borough between January 2023 and January 2024. Colleagues from Golding Homes, MBC, community groups and other organisations linked with domestic abuse, as well as customers and local residents, have kindly created a variety of purple sunflowers for our campaign. Some have been done by crochet and knitting (our Chief Executive Steph knitted some herself), others have been paintings, resins and even tile mosaics. It’s been fantastic to see everyone getting so creative to help raise awareness of such an important issue. In addition to the purple sunflower display there’s also a drop in hub available in The Mall each weekday 11am-2pm during the 16 days of action for anyone needing help or advice. We’re supporting Kent and Medway End Domestic Abuse #KnowSeeSpeakOut campaign to help raise awareness of domestic abuse in our communities. During the 16 days of action, we’re hoping our purple sunflower campaign will get people talking, understanding what domestic abuse is and where people can get the help and support they need. #themall #themallmaidstone #maidstoneboroughcouncil #MBC #KnowSeeSpeakOut #16days #16daysofaction

Huge thanks to the colleagues, customers, partners from Maidstone Borough Council, children from Five Acre Wood School and Councillor Maureen Cleator who rolled up their sleeves yesterday for a litter pick around our Shepway regeneration site. They collected an amazing 29 bags of litter between them! We’re committed to keeping the area as tidy as possible for local residents living in the area while our regeneration takes place. Hear from Councillor Cleator in this video about the importance of taking pride in the community. #shepway #regeneration #positiveneighbourhoods
