We're delighted to announce that Good Boost has secured a £150,000 investment from British Design Fund, as part of a £500,000 funding round, that will support the development of its AI-driven, aquatic rehabilitation technology. Good Boost is aiming to transform swimming pools and community spaces into therapeutic places for rehabilitation, wellbeing, and healthy ageing. The company’s unique digital aqua paddles make it possible to quantify human movement in water, aiding patient recovery and athlete conditioning programmes. According to co-founder and CEO, Ben Wilkins, the pioneering technology is a game-changer for patients, physiotherapists, players and coaches, giving them the ability to analyse and evaluate aquatic rehabilitation interventions accurately for the first time. Great first day at British Society of Lifestyle Medicine #BSLM2024 my absolute favourite event every year! Why do we need lifestyle medicine? Swim England research (‘England Swims’) demonstrated that people with long term health conditions’ perception of their own capability to be active, are generally higher where water is involved. But making that change can be hard and for some, may need modification of other habits and may take more support and regular reinforcement to complete what can be a much longer journey to the ‘start line’ than for others. GP’s, surgeons, anaesthetists, psychiatrists, physiotherapists, nurses, pharmacists and a host of other professional roles in healthcare can be that crucial bridge over the precarious gap between intention and action and I met so many with the will and influence to make change happen yesterday! Looking forward to dropping into a few sessions on Day 2 of the conference - but if you’re here do come along to the Swim England / Good Boost / Mental Health Swims exhibition stand and find out more about some of the ‘upstream’ resources developed to help those in healthcare support lifestyle change and get more people swimming!
