  • Ed Simpson, Head of Energy and Infrastructure at Gravis, recently shared his thoughts with PA Future on the challenges, opportunities, and transformational potential of sustainable investment. Here are some key takeaways: 🔋Decarbonisation deadlines demand action With the UK's target to fully decarbonise its electricity grid by 2030, we're at a critical juncture. This isn't just about more solar panels or wind farms - it's about addressing grid intermittency, upgrading infrastructure, and ensuring seamless interconnection with other markets. 🌱Beyond wind and solar At Gravis, we're investing in innovative sectors like anaerobic digestion and controlled environment agriculture. These emerging areas support a circular economy and sustainable food production, offering significant environmental and financial returns. 💡Overcoming barriers From access to capital to the need for long-term clarity, Ed highlights the hurdles ahead. Government policies set the "mood music" for investment, and decisive action in 2025 is essential to unlock the infrastructure super-cycle. 📈A once-in-a-century opportunity With ageing networks, decarbonisation targets, and a surge in sustainable demand, we're entering a transformative era. For investors, the opportunities in UK infrastructure have never been greater. As Ed puts it: "Sustainability isn't just about targets - it's about doing things better." ❔How do you see the investment landscape shifting in 2025?
