Another two hospitals in the North East and North Cumbria are now live with sharing maternity data into the GNCR. The Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust have joined a growing list of Trusts, including Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust, Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust. “Sharing maternity information directly from BadgerNet into the Great North record means key information is shared with healthcare providers and be readily available at the right time to inform better decision making. This will save so much time and duplication as the key information will be available in one place." We've spent today with colleagues from across the North East and North Cumbria at the Digital, Data & Technology Summit, hosted by North East North Cumbria Local Maternity & Neonatal System (NENC LMNS) Fantastic to be part of so many engaging discussions and sessions. Last month, the Great North Care Record (GNCR) and the North East and North Cumbria Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS), delivered the ‘first of type’ integration using BadgerNet, the maternity services electronic patient record (EPR). By using this connection, Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust became the first hospital in the region to share the maternity data that they record within the GNCR platform. It also makes them the first Trust to share maternity data outside of their organisation in the UK. More recently, Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust also began to share their maternity data into the GNCR, making it available to health and social care staff across the North East and North Cumbria. These connections significantly support health and care professionals and importantly delivers safer, better care for patients and the public. Last week we hosted a very insightful and engaging session with senior health and social care leaders from across the North East and North Cumbria, and some of our Shared Care Record colleagues further afield too! High on the agenda was shaping the GNCR's priorities and areas of focus for the next 12-24 months. The GNCR and the Local Maternity and Neonatal System NENC have delivered a 'first of type' integration using BadgerNet, the maternity services EPR.
