Over the #12DaysOfChristmas we are reflecting on our 2024 highlights. In October the amazing team at Studio 11 raised an incredible £8,500 for GWAAC at their annual charity show at 'Destination Unknown'. 💃 Saltford Hall came alive with spectacular performances, all in support of our lifesaving service. Huge thanks to everyone at Studio 11. 💚💙

About us
The Great Western Air Ambulance Charity, one of the few air ambulances in the country to work to the Gold Standard Critical Care Model. Put simply it means we are a flying Emergency Department transporting a Specialist Paramedic in Critical Care and a Consultant Doctor to the scene of an incident or medical emergency. The GWAAC Critical Care Team cover Bristol, Bath & North East Somerset, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire and parts of Wiltshire. A population of 2.1 million people. The team are operational seven days a week, 365 days a year and attend over 5 incidents per day on average. We are one of the busiest air ambulances in the UK. We receive no government or national lottery funding so completely rely on the communities we serve to help us raise over £4 million each year, so we can be there when people need us.

Over the #12DaysOfChristmas we are reflecting on our 2024 highlights. And we started 2024 with a bang... our very own Advanced Clinical Practitioner in Critical Care, Vicki, was included in the New Year Honours. She received the King's Ambulance Medal for her services to paramedicine and her efforts in advancing the profession. 🎖️ Later in the year, Vicki attended Windsor Castle and was presented with her medal by His Majesty himself.

Did you know that we are lucky to have been selected as Bristol Airport's Charity of the Year for both 2024 and 2025? 🛫 As part of the partnership, airport staff have already taken on fundraising challenges for GWAAC, donation points have been placed around the airport and a large GWAAC advert was recently placed by the check-in desks. 🚁 A week ago we were lucky to be invited onto the Jet2.com and Jet2holidays Santa Flight alongside other local charities and schools. This allowed us to bring some of our former patients and their families along on an incredible Christmassy experience. 🎅✈️

Earlier this year CPR, defibrillation and the Chain of Survival kept Ann alive. She suffered a cardiac arrest at home and received immediate CPR before an ambulance crew and our Critical Care Team arrived to deliver defibrillation and place her on life support. Thanks to your support, Ann can celebrate Christmas this year with her family. Support our lifesaving work: https://lnkd.in/ezCvg9cg

We're delighted to have welcomed Dr Lily Stanley to GWAAC as our latest Critical Care Doctor. Dr Lily completed her Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine training with our colleagues at Thames Valley Air Ambulance, but after completing her training she wanted to provide care to people in her local area.
