What's the hiring (interview) process for a Research Scientist in Machine Learning and AI Companies? Quick hint: strong focus on technical abilities in ML/AI and communication skills (i.e. being a team player and express thoughts clearly) Here’s a breakdown of what you can expect: Introduction call: you will be discussing your current work experience or academic research, including work and research projects, achievements (Kaggle, Olympiads, ICML/NeurIPS papers, etc) and your motivations and goals. Interview rounds (1 - 4): pair coding interviews, take-home projects, HackerRank tests, algorithms and data structures questions. Questions on Machine Learning theory such as Deep Learning models, latest developments in ML, practical implementation of ML model in a case study. Final interview rounds (5-6): Typically you will go through 4–6 hours of final interviews with 4–6 people over 1–2 days, i.e. onsite round, which sometimes is virtual. Interviews will be focused on your area of expertise and most of the time will ask you outside your expertise to see your thought process.
