About us

Greenbank’s core business specialises in the design, manufacture and application of abrasive and corrosive resistant products. These products extend the life of pipework and plant items which are used in many areas of heavy industry such as power generation, cement and steel for multi-national customers like Alstom, Doosan, E.ON, RWE, SSE, Tarmac, Lafarge, Cemex and Tata. In 2000, a new area of the business was initiated to design and supply technology that improved and enhanced the operation and efficiency of coal-fired power stations. The emphasis behind this was the growing requirement for clean coal technology and reduced emissions driven by legislation. Since then, Greenbank has become a leader in the development of some unique combustion optimisation and measurement technologies designed for coal-fired power stations.

  • Greenbank is proud to support the future of power generation grid stability! We are delighted to have manufactured, supplied, and installed the mechanical piping package for a 60 MVA synchronous condenser plant. This cutting-edge facility will provide short-circuit and inertia power, along with reactive power compensation, to increase the stability of distribution networks with high penetration of renewable energy generation. The installation was successfully delivered with the support of the Group’s Franklyn Yates Engineering business, ensuring a high-quality and efficient execution. As the UK transitions to a greener energy future, projects like this are crucial in stabilising distribution networks. By supporting National Grid ESO’s Stability Pathfinder initiative, we are helping to ensure a more resilient and reliable electricity system for the future. A huge thank you to our team, suppliers, and partners for making this possible! #Greenbank #FranklynYatesEngineering #GridStability #SynchronousCondenser #RenewableEnergy #EnergyTransition #EngineeringExcellence

Introducing the design of our second direct air capture system, funded by the UK Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, which is currently taking shape in Norfolk, UK. Once fully installed, this system will plug directly into the manufacturing process of construction pioneers O.C.O Technology Ltd to produce carbon-negative building materials. 🧱 All three of our first-of-a-kind systems have purposely integrated different versions of the same off-the-shelf technologies — spanning fans, cooling towers, and electrodialysis stacks — to validate exactly how they perform in the real world. Stay tuned for more updates as our system takes shape on the ground. #DirectAirCapture #NetZero #CarbonRemoval #ClimateTech #Engineering

  • Case study highlights support for Energy from Waste Plant A 30 MW waste-wood-fired power plant in the north of England suffered regular blockages in each of the discharge chutes from the fluidised bed boiler caused by oversize ash lumps and non-ferrous tramp materials. These blockages were causing frequent unscheduled stoppages as well as presenting a health and safety risk to the plant operators, but Greenbank Terotech had the answer. Since the end of the 1980s, Greenbank has installed UCC Environmental’s ash handling technology into the large coal fired power generation sector, but more recently, the equipment has found a new home at several of the UK’s newly built Energy from Waste plants. As highlighted in a new online case study, Greenbank approached the customer and proposed the addition of a UCC Excen 460 crusher into each of the discharge chute legs to eliminate the blockage problem, and you can find out more here.
