Greggs Foundation is a grant-making charity supporting local communities

About us

Greggs Foundation is a grant-making charity which aims to build stronger, healthier communities in the areas Greggs operates. The Foundation has been supporting local communities for over 35 years and has three key aims: - To address issues of poverty and inequality - Ensure food is at the heart of communities - Support local organisations to make a difference We distribute around £4.5 million per year to charitable organisations throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Through our flagship Breakfast Club programme, we support schools to provide in excess of 75,000 nutritious breakfasts to children every single day at one of our 1000 schools. The Greggs Foundation supports charitable organisations through a community grants programme making grants of up to £20,000 per year to community organisations making a real difference in their local area. The Hardship Fund offers practical, hands-on support to families and individuals in financial hardship and offers grants towards household equipment which can make a significant difference to people’s lives.

Memories of such a wonderful day! Over 10 miles walked through the stunning Ingram Valley and thousands of pounds raised for the Greggs Foundation to support our schools. We were so blessed with wonderful weather for our walk this year and excellent support from Ad Gefrin to rest our legs on our return. Thanks again to every one of our sponsors, partners and Greggs colleagues who made it along on the day 👏

🎄 Celebrating ‘A Greener Christmas’ with Datagraphic and Encore Group! Together with our buddies at The Encore Group (Encore Packaging Solutions / Envelopes), we've launched a Christmas card design competition focusing on sustainable celebrations, working with our partners at the Greggs Foundation and Chapter One UK. Through these partnerships, pupils at the breakfast clubs and part of the online literacy initiative are invited to creatively express what a planet-friendly Christmas means to them. This project is about inspiring the next generation to celebrate the holidays while protecting the planet — a vision Datagraphic and Encore are proud to support together. For more information, or if your school (or child) would like to take part, please contact esg@datagraphic.co.uk. #DgCommunity #schoolpartnership #competition #partners #GreggsFoundation #ChapterOne

Yesterday was World Food Day, and we hosted an amazing event for some of our school partners. It was great to see children engaged, having fun, and learning about food, health, and sustainability through hands-on activities like our Planet Pizza Challenge. A huge thank you to the Blend Family (Matt Bigland and Nina Patel-Bigland), the Blend Culinary Foundation and Greggs Foundation for their incredible support in making the day a success. Together, we're inspiring the next generation to make healthier choices for themselves and the planet. Here's to more collaborative efforts in building a brighter, healthier and more sustainable future! #HealthyPeopleHealthyPlanet #foodeducation #healthandwellness #WorldFoodDay #sustainabilitymatters #CommunityEngagement

We were delighted to welcome over 230 of our partners, Greggs colleagues, supporters and school leads to an event at the Boiler Shop in Newcastle to celebrate 25 years of our Breakfast Club programme. We had the most wonderful evening and enjoyed the chance to not only highlight the history, growth and impact of the Breakfast Clubs over the years, but also say a personal thank you to everyone who has supported the Greggs Foundation along the way. Thanks to everyone who came along, here's to the next 25 years! ❤️ https://bit.ly/3BPE5r1

Consultancy and Interim Leadership for Charities, Corporate Foundations, Arts/Culture & Sport I Non-Executive Director, Board Member and Trustee

That's a wrap, Greggs Foundation… After nine years on the Board, with five as Chair of the Grants Committee, it's time for me to step down. Since joining in 2014, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing the Foundation’s incredible growth. 🥣 Breakfast Clubs have expanded from 304 to 1,006, now feeding 75,000 children. 👏 Through the partnership with Greggs Outlets, community grants are making an impact across the UK. 💰 Foundation income has surged from £2 million to nearly £7 million, thanks to the generosity of Greggs, its colleagues, customers, and partners—a true testament to connecting those dots. 🧍♀️The staff team has also grown, from four to twelve. It’s been an honour to be part of this journey as a Trustee, but the real credit goes to Tracy Lynch. In a world where being 'busy' often gets more recognition than ‘Getting Things Done’, Tracy consistently delivers with passion, humour, and humility. As for me? Until I find my next Trustee role, I’ll take a leaf from my hero, Barbara in Ted Lasso, collect my snow globe, and move on.

⭐ 1000 Breakfast Clubs! ⭐   We recently reached a key milestone for The Greggs Foundation as we opened our 1000th Breakfast Club! It is a really proud moment for the whole team and even more special to have reached this goal whilst also celebrating exactly 25 years since our very first club opened at West Walker Primary School in Newcastle.   We have so many people to thank for helping us now reach over 75,000 children every single day.  However, our special thanks go to our fantastic network of schools, partners and always amazing Greggs colleagues and customers – we could not have done this without you.   To mark this milestone, we had a little surprise for some of the children at one of our Breakfast Clubs at Vauxhall Primary School when TV personality, Joe Swash arrived to surprise the children and join in with some fun and games before school began – cue much laughter and excitement!   25 years of serving smiles in schools and feeding brighter futures with the Greggs Foundation ❤️

Thanks to funding received from the Greggs Foundation we are now providing food to local primary school aged children at an after school club, run by our partner YPF. Food insecurity in this part of Glasgow has trebled in recent years to 40%. We also know that getting nutritious food to kids is a big challenge, despite the roll out of free school meals and the growth of breakfast clubs. Thanks to this funding, we are able to provide a nutritionally balanced meal and a breakfast bag for the kids to enjoy the following morning, to around 20-25 kids, twice a week up until the end of the year.
