We have relocated our Melbourne studio from the fringe to the heart of Melbourne's Central Business District at 150 Lonsdale, Wesley Place. Our brief to ourselves was to effectively reuse, recycle and repurpose as much of our old studio as possible but also to create the ideal and future-focussed architecture practice workspace. Our new home was driven by design innovation and Grimshaw's obsession with functionality and materials. Opening 26 February. In-line Projects #workplace #interiordesign

Grimshaw has been invited to exhibit at the 19th International Architecture Exhibition – the Biennale di Venezia by curator Carlo Ratti Associati. This year’s VB theme is Intelligence: Natural, Artificial, Collective Central to our invitation has been our innovative work in designing data centres – crucial infrastructure for the age of AI. Though ‘in the cloud’ the digital era yet requires buildings and physical places. The challenge? Given their energy needs and scale , to make them as sustainable as possible and to maximise their positive benefit on the environment, the community and the cities we live in. Our response: working with global market leader Goodman we are designing real world solutions which balance the virtual and the physical, places and people. In Venice, we showcase this Australian-inspired innovation on the global stage. Fondazione La Biennale di Venezia Arup #BiennaleArchitettura2025 #IntelliGens #datacentres

‘Knowing what guidance to follow, for tackling carbon emissions, and when to use it is a challenge the built environment sector.’ In ‘Smart Architecture to Reduce Whole-life Carbon in Building and Infrastructure’, published in The Routledge Companion to Smart Design Thinking in Architecture & Urbanism, Paul Toyne writes about the imperative to take a holistic system thinking approach to built environment solutions to the climate challenge. Minoro — launched in 2024 and developed by Grimshaw in collaboration with the WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development, RIBA, Architecture 2030, the World Green Building Council and several national Green Building Councils across the globe — is a step towards this, centralising the advice, guidance and methodology to help reduce whole life carbon across project life cycle for new and existing buildings across the world. ‘Understanding the interconnectedness of resilience, health and well-being, biodiversity and planetary boundaries with net-zero carbon in the built environment will be essential so that future investments can deliver co-benefits across all issues for us, nature and the restoration of Earth.’ Find out more about the publication here → https://lnkd.in/efPpeFBb
