What an inspiring evening we had at the screening of the insightful documentary film, Six Inches Of Soil, at Bournemouth University yesterday, organised by Izzy Chalk, Rebecca Owen (ANutr) and the BU sustainability team 💚 It was energising to have such a diverse cross section of locals at the event, from interested residents, to nutrition and green economy students, the NHS and educators, farmers and food businesses, coming together to hear the agricultural journeys of two UK farming families and an inspiring young market gardener 💚 We then heard from a panel of speakers, including our charity Founder, Michael French, the film Producer Claire Mackenzie, Clyde Jones and George Holmes, Director at Arla Foods🎙️ The audience then put questions to the panel and it was uplifting to hear of the efforts being invested towards the mission of regenerative farming, on UK farms and in the education of young farmers. The resounding feedback in the room was recognising the urgent need for collaboration and connection between agricultural stakeholders, the empowerment we can experience as consumers to make more local food choices, as well as the support we can provide to community initiatives 🙌🏼 We were encouraged to visit the website of https://lnkd.in/gAWjmjb, this inspiring organisation recently coordinated some great collaborative food policy workshops at the Dorset COP. Check out their work with the Feeding Dorset Partnership 🌱 If you would like to learn more about our grass roots projects, we run monthly community meals at the Secret Garden (this Sunday 1st Dec from 12.30pm) and volunteer opportunities across 6 diverse projects: https://lnkd.in/eJ-QXUvi Thanks again to the sustainability team at Bournemouth Uni for organising such an uplifting event, to Claire Mackenzie for your tireless work in raising the collective awareness of soil health, to Claire King (your Nutri-Kit work in education is essential) and our fellow panel speakers for your agricultural efforts to bring active change 🤝 Together we can grow 🌱 #groundedcommunity #SixInchesOfSoil #BournemouthUniversity #soilassociation #arla #watercressfarms #thenutritionadvisoryteam #helpandkindness #MarketGardening #soilhealth #watercressfarms #agriculturalchange #goodfoodforall
