Helios was a great success, hopefully the first of many within our propulsion team's new endeavours! We see this as a massive accomplishment on our part, which could only be achieved thanks to our wonderful partnerships such as the one we have with thyssenkrupp Materials UK Ltd. As we continue to push the envelope at GUR, such connections are vital, and we will continue to build a stronger partnership with you as we progress. 🚀
In July 2024, the GU Rocketry propulsion team successfully reached their target thrust of 1Kn when they hot-fired their Helios engine at the Race2Space Competition, marking it the team’s first Liquid bi-propellent engine. The test consisted of a total of three burns conducted at five, three and ten second intervals, and at 600N, 750N and 1300N 🚀 GU Rocketry are a Scotland based team who not only design, build and launch high-powered rocket - but they also aim to create an environment that inspires and provides the future of STEM with the experience and skills to operate successfully within the UK Space sector. ☄ thyssenkrupp Materials UK are proud to have been a part of this fantastic, complex journey by sponsoring the GU Rocketry team with manufacturing support and CNC Machined Parts for the Helios engine.
