About us

The Hallé was founded in Manchester by Sir Charles Hallé in 1858. We tour and perform in the UK and internationally. We are also a registered charity. Our Music Director is Sir Mark Elder CH CBE. 162 years of making music in Manchester 250 young musicians receiving weekly, top class music tuition through our youth ensembles 8,000 school children in attendance at our annual Hallé for Youth concerts 21,000 young instrumentalists engaged in the 'Come and Play with the Hallé' project 55,000 participants engaged in over 70 education projects 250,000 concert-goers each year Award winning albums on our own record label
